@CriticallyTouch That description actually DOES entirely turn me off. I mean, I liked some of the actors on ER well enough (before growing weary of the setting and premise), but thought 24 was a stupid, stupid TV series. Yeah, probably not my cup of tea.

Is it generally a "touching your brain but not your heart" sort of situation? I fell back on the 3.5 rating a lot back when I regularly logged movies.

#Superman features a lot of ridiculous CGI action and comedy, yet writer/director James Gunn has a fundamental understanding of what makes its core characters work, and actors David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan are both terrific in the Superman/Lois roles. Very fun stuff.

I don't know if the influence of Powell and Pressburger has ever been more pronounced in Wes Anderson's work than in #ThePhoenicianScheme .

Just got caught up on #Pachinko . Wonderful, multi-generational TV series. Kim Min-ha's performance is heartbreaking: her body language is so incredibly nuanced and expressive.

Oh, I should've added Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga to the Honourable Mentions list. The mythology of that franchise is pretty thin, so it doesn't necessarily benefit from focusing on story over spectacle, but George Miller still shoots vehicular action better than just about anyone.

A running theme amongst of number of the movies is terrific period detail. Anyways, if you have an appreciation for slapstick humour, Hundreds of Beavers is probably the funniest film of the past five years: just relentlessly inventive in form and execution.

@CriticallyTouch I'm of two minds about The Wild Robot and Flow. Both have similar themes, and the former probably builds more on its initial ideas, but it also perhaps spells things out a bit too much (at times) with the dialogue. So I could really go either way, re: which is better.
