This morning, while singing and dancing with Gabriel to the Beatles’ Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da, we got our first baby belly laughs. We really thought Micah would be the first to laugh, but, oh my goodness, it was everything. Can’t wait for more.
Micah started wailing when I sat down with him for his bottle tonight. He got so worked up he couldn’t/wouldn’t feed. I turned the light all the way up to distract him. Worked like a charm. Immediately stopped crying, stared at the light, and took his bottle. Killer dad moment.
I’ve been struggling lately. I don’t feel much joy and I’m worried about my marriage long-term. I hope it’s just a phase, but concerned it’s not. I reached out to @betterhelp to schedule time with a counselor. Never had any sort of therapy before, but I need help right now.
@redbeetredbeetz That’s a long time to share your room! Good for you! We thought we’d keep them in longer, but our sleep, and sanity, needed them out. 😜
Sleeping has been so much better since moving the boys to their room. It’s been about 2 weeks now. Not hearing their frequent adjustment noises makes getting back to sleep after feeding much easier.
@Maraliz41333465 Almost identical stats! 8/29 for us - 3lb3oz and 2lb15oz. Were your twins premature too? Ours came at 30 weeks. 40 & 45 days in the NICU.
Challenging stretch with the boys. They’re 12 weeks today, but because they were 10 weeks premature, they act more like newborns than 3 month olds. They still don’t really acknowledge our existence. Kinda feels like they never will. Ready for some intentional eye contact & smiles
#TwinMom doing her thing. Feeding one while comforting the next on deck. They’re starting to appreciate it - this morning Micah responded to her voice and turned to look at her for the first time. Very cool moment.
#TwinMom ran out for a haircut this afternoon, and gotta say I crushed it. In the 2ish hour window I did laundry, changed the boys, bathed the boys, fed the boys, cleaned the kitchen, and wrote a couple thank you notes. Such satisfaction from efficient productivity.
Hitting some frustrations with the boys. They still suck at eating. Either it’s painfully slow or it’s fast and they spit up badly. Feeding is such a fundamental thing and I can’t really make them better eaters. It makes me feel powerless.
Paternity leave is over and I’m back at work tomorrow. I came up with a routine that I think’ll work well. I’m taking the 9 PM feeding/changing so #TwinMom can get some rest before she does the 12 & 3 AM rounds. We’ll then tag-team the 6 AM feeding before I head to work.
