Averages are very important to understand, so thanks for sharing this. I enjoy your content. However, it's also true that the nature of averages bakes in average behaviors across a wide group of people (unless otherwise controlled). To be an outlier in outcomes requires atypical behaviors. We do see in real life people that seem to defy these results, so there is some hope!
Hi. I was a "new" beginner about 4 years ago when i started to re-introduce sprinting. I built a website you can checkout just for this situation, but the short answer is to build up slowly over time. It's very dependent on your starting point physically, and age does play a role in my opinion. I'm 62, so I know at least that specific challenge. Key elements are to build range of motion, then build up some core strength, and then work into progression which can start with walking fast, etc. I'm happy to give you more thoughts if you share a little more on where you are starting. Or, you can get a lot here, all free info:

Sprinting at 50+ sounds extreme, but it's actually a very natural human movement. For a very long time it was a matter of survival.

This morning I did my hill sprinting session fasted for 40 hours. Really good impulsive energy and reduced heart rate maximum. Just anecdotal personal experience.
I'm 62 and sprint regularly.
