"if we say no, they never talk to us again" is fucking wild.
Furthers my conspiracy that AI and memory companies are inflating prices to destroy consumer hardware and push everyone to the cloud.
One happy money hatting family milking people for subscription fees for eternity.
It's tiring. Anyone who's even remotely close to procurement already knew what was going to happen when Valve announced the GabeCube. I knew it wasn't going to be cheap. People trying to compare older/already made machines are comparing to stock priced prior to skyrocket. And considering the timeframe and when they originally planned to launch, I assume they already had contracts in place to make the machines. There was no more "delay" they could probably get away with, considering they likely had a few hundred million invested in it already and would likely just have rotting stock depreciating rapidly.
As someone who's had several failed starts and finally bit the bullet for almost a year now, you ain't kidding. Gotta get real comfy with googling every single issue with forums full of "well, I didn't have that issue" and "didn't you commit to memory our 400+ page documentation?". Not to mention every distro does things slightly different and some things don't work from distro to distro... I don't blame anyone for wanting to stick to windows. I just hope steamos can alleviate a lot of that by having a user base.
