A suspected smash-and-grab thief was killed after being struck by a vehicle while fleeing across the N2 near the Nyanga off-ramp, Cape Town.

The suspect allegedly smashed a car window in bumper-to-bumper traffic, grabbed items and ran into oncoming traffic. Paramedics declared him dead at the scene.
