Since you gave me 20M to provide laptops for Nigerian youth, my life on this app has been miserable. Despite demonstrating accountability and transparency repeatedly, some people still want to take my l!fe.
I have been subjected to intense scrutiny, public shaming, name-calling, and endless accusations simply because I took a bold step to address a major problem affecting young people. Some even said I was doing money laundering for you .
There have been countless opinions and narratives flying around. At some point, I considered refunding the 20M to you, but I decided against it because I didn’t want to let the naysayers win.
Deep down, I am exhausted and broken, and there are times I wish I never embarked on this journey at all.
Before I ever started soliciting funds, I had been buying laptops for people in need—something that @Val_Gadget and @SpartanSolutns can attest to.
After you donated the ₦20M, my team members @Horiyourme, @boye4christ2006, and @mobola_ade and I decided to add an extra 15 laptops at our own cost (₦3.9M) to make the total 100 laptops. Yet, even that was not enough .
My name has been continuously slandered on this app, with different agendas attached to it, and it has raised many questions in my mind. Do these people really worth me to putting my life on the line for ? Sometimes I read certain tweets and break down in tears, how can someone who doesn’t even know me say such horrible things?
Many of them don’t follow me or take the time to go through my timeline to see what I am actually doing with the funds you entrusted to me.
Some say I am fighting invisible battles; others claim I am being paranoid. But the truth is that these people are cruel and driven by their own agendas, with little regard for others.
What keeps me going is you and the few Nigerian youths who genuinely understand what I am trying to do and have shown appreciation. Even my brief encounter with @Johnnydrille was a source of motivation.
This is not a plea for pity, but the reality is that many Nigerians on this space are unkind, treating everything as a joke or “cruise.”
Few weeks ago I was robbed. They left with my phone and slapped the hell out of me because I don't have a bank app on my phone.
What they didn't realise was, I hid all my financial app.
I still feel sad about the phone.
Stay vigilant out there, #Christmas is fast approaching.
