Libs play a game I call "How Much Pain Can I Tolerate?" where they think, it's just chess pieces. Trivial to replace. Costs basically nothing. No big deal. Why would I put someone in jail for stealing them, are you insane? How selfish can you be? I can easily tolerate the pain of having to replace chess pieces for a couple of bucks every once in a while.

My 1 point of discomfort for tolerating the behavior easily outweighs by the 9999 points of discomfort that punishing the behavior would generate. You want me to put some kid in jail over a couple hunks of plastic?

Why would I arrest a guy for buying a banana with counterfeit money? Why would I chase someone down for Skittles and an Arizona Iced Tea? Why would I disrupt the houseless schizo shooting up and jacking off on the subway, it doesn't really affect me. It's easy to ignore. These people are already suffering.

But the chess pieces keep getting stolen. Old chess guys stop using the park. Rowdy teenagers take over. Moms stop bringing their kids. The park fills up with crackheads.

You see this phenomenon everywhere you look. Libs let petty crime slide because they think "I can take it." And maybe they can. But every time they do this, they add a little bit of pointless friction to every day life. A sliver of pain, a cost that adds up and up.

Now your Rite Aid shampoo is locked up. Now the shop has to hire a security guard (and raises prices accordingly). Now there's needles under the jungle gym. Now there's no old people on the corner keeping an eye on things. Now your kid can't run to the corner store after dark. Now your wife gets catcalled on her way home from work. Now there's loud reggaeton playing all the time. Life gets a little shittier and shittier. But hey, you can tolerate it. No big deal.

Some corrections.

1. The dentures "made of slave teeth" is speculation based off a ledger in Mount Vernon with the purchase of some teeth from a dentist, paid to "negroes" where they sold 9 of their teeth for the equivalent of 3 months wages.

2. Thomas Jefferson didn't "rape child slaves", the only proven child with a Jefferson Y chromosome was Eston Hemings who was born almost exactly 9 months after Randolph Jefferson and his sons came to visit Monticello, she was also very much an adult, and she was 1/4 Black and existing accounts of her description say she looked mighty near white with straight hair.

3. Teddy Roosevelt had to correct this in his own life. What he actually said was, "I don't go so far as to think the only good Indians are dead Indians, but I believe nine out of ten are, and i shouldn't like to inquire too closely into the case of the tenth." Which is a far more funny thing to say.

4. They deserved it, they went on trial and they were found guilty justifiably so.

The UK has “free” healthcare, and roughly 1 in 3 cancer patients in England still fail to start treatment within 62 days of urgent referral.

Canada has “free” healthcare, and the median wait for neurosurgical treatment is around a year.

Australia has “free” healthcare, and over half the country still buys private insurance despite paying for a public universal system with their taxes.

Switzerland has universal coverage, because residents are required to buy private insurance. There is no government system where benevolent bureaucrats tuck you in at night with a warm blanket and an MRI appointment.

The actual lesson from other wealthy countries is not “they figured it out.”

America’s system has huge problems. Our prices are insane, insurance markets are distorted, and hospital systems are cartelized. Our regulations make care more expensive than it needs to be.

Yet we still guarantee access to even the 8% who don’t have coverage. We give easy routes to qualify for medicaid for those with disabilities.

Pretending the rest of the world solved healthcare because they slapped the word “universal” on a rationing scheme is not analysis.

It is bumper sticker policy for people who think access means having a card in your wallet while you wait a year to see the doctor you need.

The Mailbox Test, like the breakfast test, is an excellent way to tell who you can allow to wield power in your society.

Goes like this:

If someone is hurt trying to destroy someone else's stuff in order to take pleasure from their pain, do you sympathize with...

The aggressor because he got hurt?

Or with the guy who owns the stuff, because he wasn't the aggressor?

You can have people in your society who fail the Mailbox Test. That's okay... they can work at hospices, or shelters for orphaned kittens, or something.

But you cannot allow them to vote, or otherwise wield political power. Because if you do, they will open the gates of the city to the enemy.

I am personally tired of everyone pretending that people who enjoy ruining things for random strangers are just kewt smol beans who are only aggressive because of all the complex socioeconomic factors and lack of resources.

They knew someone would be hurt by what they did. They knew that someone had done literally nothing harmful to them. And those two ideas, in combination made them feel pleasure. And they went and did it.

That is the sign of a rotten soul.

Defending ourselves and our property is not just a right, it's a moral obligation. Otherwise, we just kick the can down the road for someone else to deal with, someone who may not be able to defend herself.

I don't care if a vandal breaks his arms trying to destroy my stuff. Because I value my stuff more than a vandal's arms. And the fact that he tried to destroy somebody else's stuff shows that he, too, values his arms less than the opportunity to hurt somebody.

We cannot allow such people inside the city, and we cannot give the keys to those who would open the gates for them.

I witnessed this myself in college: one too many bad situationships, and they begin to carry this feeling of being a piece of meat everywhere, projecting it onto “society” despite there being zero material evidence of structural misogyny in the West. The bitter irony is that hookup / situationship culture is a byproduct of feminism; they fought for the ability to be treated like pieces of meat, to be equal to men sexual the way gay men are with each other, but the attainment of this freedom has done nothing but foment an even deeper hatred of their father’s civilization
