Racist messages such as those targeting #tennis player @CocoGauff online are appalling and illustrate that Black female athletes are specifically targeted for vitriol and racial abuse. There is no place in sport for racial or sexist slurs and abuse. Players, coaches, and sports bodies need to stand up for those facing such attacks and fans need to push back against those who sully sport with racism and sexism.
Watching the stadium fill up for Eala is a gift to witness for all tennis fans. Such a beautiful thing. Filipinos are giving the whole world a master class on what support looks like. #nationalbankopen
1 legend. 1 story. $1 billion at the box office.
To every fan who bought a ticket, sang along, dressed up, and returned to the big screen again and again: thank you. This milestone belongs to you. #MichaelMovie
Coco Gauff, the athlete you are. You had it, and that hurts, but it's also confirmation that you can be a Wimbledon champ. You'll get it done next time. So many levels unlocked...watch out, world!
Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka are both off to their first career Wimbledon Quarterfinals 👏
At 22, Gauff would be the youngest American woman to complete the QF set since Serena Williams at the 2001 French Open (19).
Osaka got there by knocking off No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, her earliest exit at a Major since the 2022 French Open.
@LeDerius She didn't play poorly and this wasn't a one sided match. She had only 3 double faults, far fewer than her opponent. Her performance would have been enough 4 the win in a typical match but Potapova just outplayed her and that's okay. Forever proud of Coco, even when she loses.
