Prof @MthuliNcube01 needs to understand that the economy is LOCAL. He can fly to Davos & rub shoulders with the global political & business elite BUT the success of Zimbabwe remains a LOCAL ISSUE.
Before he thinks of Global Shocks, he should worry about the LOCAL SHOCKS.
Some of us have said it OVER AND OVER AGAIN: The govtโs monetary & fiscal policies are SELF DEFEATING. Over taxation makes local goods expensive & thus incentivise imports & smuggling. Overtaxation makes products in formal businesses expensive, and thus promote informalisation.
The COMMAND EXCHANGE rate has been a TOTAL DISASTER, the IMTT has been toxic for the local currency.
Itโs the Formal Businesses that have kept the ZiG alive, they embraced it throughout. They have endured the massive inflation and devaluation of the local currency, and they are now burdened with high taxes & a Command Exchange rateโฆ it doesnโt help anyone, @ZimTreasury & @ReserveBankZIM should fix their irrational policies before itโs too late.
Wise policymakers are quick to revise flawed policies.
Proudly a crochet artist. Ndakadzidza kuti nyadzi dzinouraya nenzara. Dai ndakanyara kuonekwa ndichiruka tingadai tiripi nevana vangu. Kuraramira vanhu is the worst kind of bondage, worrying kuti do they think Iโm pretty, kuti ndine mari or ndine phone yakanaka. I run my own race
I see from the comments section below that we think not paying taxes, not contributing to the fiscus, being unregulated, growing the informal sector beyond 64% (last independently reported level) is actually INNOVATION & STRATEGIC DISRUPTION ๐คฆ๐พโโ๏ธ๐๐พโฆare we really very educated?
Don't lose hope. Pray, put in more effort, be brave enough to take risks, step out of your comfort zone, complain less, take proactive steps, refuse to let fear hold you back, show courage, and always believe in your dream.
When you see us seriously working hard its because we know where we came from and the memories are bitter. If you cant help us to reach our desired success ,at least donโt mock us for trying hard to make our own money no matter how little it is.
