I am excited to be joining @nvidia as the Head of Developer Relations for Africa.
For years Nvidia has focused on emerging markets, however most recently it has created its very FIRST role that focuses on Africa solely. And I am excited to be leading that effort.
We are excited to unveil @EqualyzAI GPU4Good, our continent-focused initiative providing FREE GPU access to African researchers building high-impact AI solutions for Africa.
We are doing this because Africa’s biggest AI challenge today is not talent. It is access to compute power.
Africa has less than 1% of the world’s GPU infrastructure, yet we are home to researchers, builders, and innovators capable of solving problems that affect 1.2 billion people. Too many important ideas are delayed or abandoned simply because the compute to train and test them is not available.
GPU4Good is our way of changing that.
By sharing our critical asset (Compute power), we want to see many African researchers turn strong ideas into trained models and deployed solutions, especially across African languages and local contexts.
This is a clear statement of who we are at EqualyzAI.
We are not just building AI products. We are building the infrastructure that allows Africa to build its own AI.
If you are a researcher working on problems that matter for Africa, we would love to support your work.

Our AI Personality of the Month is Fatima Tambajang.
Fatima leads Developer Relations, Startups and VC for Emerging Markets at @nvidia, working at the intersection of developers, founders, and investors. Her focus is simple and demanding: give innovators the tools, training, and partnerships they need to turn strong ideas into real AI solutions.
Born and raised in Denmark, shaped by years in the UK and nearly a decade across Africa, and now based in the U.S., Fatima brings a rare three-continent perspective to how ecosystems grow. Her identity as a European with African roots shows up clearly in how she thinks about collaboration, access, and impact.
Her perspectives on AI, innovation, and ecosystem building have been featured by @TimeMagazineRS, @BBC, @Forbes, and Copenhagen Fintech Week.

We are proud to have joined @QhalaHQ's African AI Village event at ongoing UNGA 2025 in New York to contribute to how Africa will define its own AI pathway, grounded in the new African AI Declaration, and focused on real-world context, opportunities, and the hard challenges we must solve.
Our Co-founder and CEO co-led the Data stream, where the team mapped actionable pathways for an African AI agenda with transformational impact: trusted data ecosystems, inclusion of local languages and communities, responsible governance, ethical compensation structure with data owners, consent, digital public infrastructure, and sustainable talent pipelines.
The message was clear: Africa’s AI future must be context-led, citizen-centred, and execution-ready. If we get the data, governance, and incentives right, we can unlock scaled solutions in health, education, agriculture, finance, and public service delivery.
We also had a great opportunity to showcase some of the amazing innovations being built by @equalyz_ai .

Good morning from Lagos!
We’re kicking off the day at the Breakfast Roundtable at @GITEXNG 2025 where innovators, policymakers, and investors are sitting together to talk about Africa’s digital future.
For us at @equalyz_ai , the conversation is simple but powerful:
1. AI in Africa must speak our languages and reflect our realities.
2. Data sovereignty and local context are not optional they’re the foundation.
3. The real wins will come when we collaborate, not compete in silos.
The future of AI in Africa is being shaped not in silos, but in conversations like these over coffee, strategy, and shared purpose.
#EqualyzAI #GITEXNigeria2025 #AIForAfrica #BeAnEqualyzer
Day 2 at @GITEXNG 2025 is here, and the excitement is still buzzing.
Day 1 carried a special kind of energy from the inspiring @nvidia masterclasses to the fireside chat on “Scratch to Scale: Building AI Ecosystems,” where our co-founder @bayoadekanmbi shared the stage with brilliant minds like @francis_sani and @TiiimaT at the Lagos State Government Pavilion Eko Hotel.
The message was clearly defined: Africa’s AI journey is no longer a vision it’s happening right now.
But to truly scale, we must hold on to four essentials:
- Talent to drive innovation
- Compute to power the work
- Research to deepen knowledge
- Policy to guide and protect growth
As we step into Day 2, our mission sharpens to design AI that reflects us: our people, our cultures, our economies.
And here’s the best part: this isn’t a solo journey. We’re building it together.

Day 2 at #GITEXNigeria is here!
Yesterday set the tone. From the @nvidia masterclasses at Eko Hotel to our founder’s (@bayoadekanmbi) panel on “Scratch to Scale: Building the AI Ecosystem” with @francis_sani and @TiiimaT at Landmark Centre, and our showcase at the Lagos State Government Pavilion at Eko Hotels, the conversations were alive with possibility.
One big insight stood out: Africa’s AI ecosystem isn’t just emerging, its taking shape. The talent is coming through government-backed programs. Industry support is real, as seen with @nvidia. But to scale, four essentials must hold: talent, compute, research, and policy.
The call is clear:
a. Build for the users, solving Africa’s unique problems.
b. Show the need boldly, and support will follow.
As we step into Day 2, the mission sharpens, Africa must lead with intention, designing AI that reflects our people, our cultures, and our economies.
And the best part? We’re building it together.

Inate Power of Kenyans in #Ai!

Wrapping up an incredible few days at the Global AI Summit on Africa in #Kigali. One of the highlights? A powerful moment of connection with fellow “Kenyans” — Fred Swaniker and Akua Gyekye (honorary Kenyans for the day!).
We had an honest, energizing conversation about how we can better collaborate from our different vantage points — entrepreneurs, diaspora, researchers, and big tech — to drive AI adoption that tackles real challenges and unlocks innovation and economic opportunity across the continent.
So proud of this Kenyan spirit and the amazing humans behind it all!

Last week at the Global AI Summit on Africa in Kigali 🇷🇼, I joined a powerful panel on “GenAI Gaps & Opportunities for Inclusive Development” with Annie Hartley (EPFL), @DrShikoh (Qhala), Emmanuel Lubanzadio (OpenAI), Alex Okosi (Google), moderated by Zameer Brey.
🚨BREAKING NEWS!
The biggest news out of the Global AI Summit on Africa is the Africa Declaration on Artificial Intelligence, a groundbreaking show of commitment by both the public and private sector, which also includes a $60 billion fund to invest in developing and expanding AI infrastructure, scaling African AI enterprises, building a robust pipeline of AI practitioners, and strengthening domestic AI research capabilities, while upholding principles of equity and inclusion.

“There is still a lot of uncertainty surrounding artificial intelligence, especially regarding privacy and safety. But one thing is certain: technology is supposed to be a force for good, and we have a responsibility to use it accordingly.” President Kagame #GAISAfrica2025
The Global AI summit in Kigali has been a huge success. After many years of work by numerous people in the continent, the fruits are now clearly visible and governments see it. Let’s remember community work by @DeepIndaba@MasakhaneNLP@AISaturdayLagos et al that got us here.
