The chaotic and contradictory decisions by the Trump Administration continue to increase the cost of living and make life harder across the board for Wisconsinites including our families, consumers, and farmers.

Senate Democrats were ready to ban partisan gerrymandering at today's special session. We are ready to lower gas, grocery, and housing costs. Republicans failed to show up and have not scheduled any more legislative sessions in 2026. Time for a change!
Expanding access to occupational licenses for Dreamers opens doors to the American Dream, addresses workforce shortages, and boosts our economy. Legislative Dems fought hard for this bill. Thanks to @TimCarpenterMKE and @SenChrisLarson for their advocacy on this legislation!
A bright spot from the Senate's final regular session was the vote to extend access to occupational licenses to Dreamers. Senator @TimCarpenterMKE and @SenChrisLarson were among the champions of this bill. Appreciate their advocacy!
Reverend Jackson passed away this morning. He suffered from Parkinson's Disease, a very difficult illness that also impacted my mom. My thoughts are with his family.
Reverend Jesse Jackson was a giant of the Civil Rights Movement, an icon who showed us that nonviolent direct action can change the world
It was an honor to meet him, and it is an honor to carry forward in his legacy of fighting for social justice and civil rights. #KeepHopeAlive
If you are not able to make it to the meeting, you can get more information about the project, or contact the project managers here: https://t.co/9h7R1cjmgF

Well, folks. That’s a wrap on the best 11 days of summer.
I hope you enjoyed the @WIStateFair as much as Kathy and I did. Can’t wait to be back next year!
State Senator @TimCarpenterMKE’s (MA ’96) extensive career began at age 24 when he was first elected to the legislature. He has helped pass a wide range of legislation, often using the analytical skills he gained at La Follette to make policy decisions.https://t.co/GrCsjO3Mfi
Vel Phillips was a trailblazer in her lifetime, shattering the glass ceiling for many women and Black Wisconsinites.
Her statue is the first-ever of a Black leader to be placed on Wisconsin state capitol grounds.
Committee procedures like this have been used as “legislative vetoes” preventing our state’s agencies from enacting programs that have already been approved. The Court’s ruling today clarifies that has not been appropriate under our state’s constitutional framework.
Among the decisions released by the WI Supreme Court today were two significant updates
1st, the Court found Drop Boxes are permitted under state law, meaning municipal clerks can once again use them as an option for voters to return their absentee ballots

Second, the Court ruled 6-1 that once funding for a project under the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program has been approved by the Legislature and the Governor, the Joint Committee on Finance can no longer prevent the DNR from spending those funds.
