Landlords get reamed by insurance premiums, property taxes and maintenance costs (and that's all on top of the monthly mortgage payment for the home). If you bought a home, you'd have to deal with increasing monthly expenses, too, not to mention taking on the risk of legal liabilities and/or a market crash. Many people don't want to take on that risk or jump through all the hoops to buy a home. That's the service that landlords provide.

One could make a case that they'd integrate if they came over in trickles to live among the natives to learn the language and culture, but when you start letting them in by the thousands (let alone tens or hundreds of thousands) into one location, there's not a chance in hell they're going to integrate.

When they're your own kids (and assuming you're mentally well...admittedly, a lot of parents aren't), you don't feel the rage you're imagining. You'll definitely feel some frustration, but mostly you're thinking, "This poor kid needs a nap." That is, you'll actually feel sympathy for them. Furthermore, little tantrums like this will be far outweighed by the hundreds of cute things they do in a given week.
