My review of Jose Maria Olazabal’s lovely course Costa Ballena Ocean Golf in the bottom left hand corner of Spain. Carve one into the sea and North American may be your nearest point of relief. …https://t.co/WzCyUxodMG
After weeks of rain in Kent it was great to get away for a bit of southern Spanish sun at Costa Ballena Ocean Golf Club. Lovely palm trees framing lightning fast greens. And oh my goodness does Jose Maria Olazabel know how to place a bunker to catch out the unwary!
@HowDidiDo@kingsdowngolf Walmer and Kingsdown. Played it in the depths of winter a while ago. Every other course in Kent flooded. Walmer still had summer greens and proper tees. Excellent
While reviewing Cleeve Hill golf I was struck by the fact that, like Cypress Point, 15 and 16 are b2b par threes. Both Mackenzie courses but @cleevehillgolf first one done by the Good Doctor. Is this where he got the idea??https://t.co/TvhI0nk7c2
On holiday in the Isle of Purbeck & a couple of hours to kill. Where better than IoP golf club? The long course looks great - a top 100 stalwart - and spectacular views over Poole Harbour. They also have an excellent nine-holer, the Dene, which filled the time slot perfectly.
@shanebwrites @jamierkennedy I guess if more events did mixed formats it would be less of a novelty though. Might be one for the Olympics. I can never get excited about *another* 72 hole stroke play event there..
Last time I had a tee-time @ApplebyGolfClub was 26 years ago. Had to cancel due to medical emergency. Finally got back here - definitely worth the wait. Gorgeous windswept setting, superb greens, amazing views. And the legendary par 3 15th, which every golfer should play.
@CllrChrisVinson@NorthForeland Did okay on the first nine but the back nine….not so much. The 17th absolutely killed me! Greens though, were absolutely impeccable. Some of the best I have ever played on.
Top notch day out at @NorthForeland on the cliffs in the north east corner of Kent. You know you’re on a tough course when you see a bunker wall which is literally a chalk cliff. A brilliant Tom Simpson design with some of the best views I have ever seen from a course…
