ICYMI
In 1953, Illinois politicians famously promised that roads would be "Toll-Free in '73." But since then, Illinois drivers have paid nearly $27 billion in tolls.
Now, state leaders are pushing for the largest passenger toll hike in Illinois history.
Here is what you need to know about the proposed $1 billion toll tax hike:
>Passenger tolls could jump by 45 cents, raising the average cost to $1.24.
>Commercial truck tolls could increase by 30%.
>Starting in 2029, tolls would automatically hike with inflation every two years.
>The tollway has collected nearly $20.7 billion more than it needed for maintenance since 1973.
>Over $3.3 billion currently remains unused in the state's Road Fund.
The tollway authority took in a record $1.44 billion in 2024.
So why the hike?
Because it was a political reward to labor unions for supporting a Chicago-area transit bailout.

NYC wants a $127 Billion budget.
The ENTIRE state of Florida has a $117 Billion budget.
NYC has 8.8 million people.
Florida has ~ 22 million people..
Think about that for a second. That is absolutely wild..
Happy 34th to this guy. Just an awesome young man, a terrific son, brother and husband. (State Champion coach too). So proud, and so lucky to have him as my son! Happy BDay Matt! ๐๐๐๐ป
