It’s high time to end the divisive, “two systems” rhetoric.
We have one set of students, who are facing shared challenges (many lifted up in @DrJillUnderly’s address).
They are ALL worthy of our love, our support, and of fair funding - no matter their choice of schools.
Where will the largest computer in the world be? WI @M7Region Region! Great meeting with @Microsoft 's Brad Smith today alongside other business leaders at today's historic announcement in Racine! Another win for @MMAC_Chamber's Milwaukee7, @WEDCNews, @RCEDC1 & other partners!

From Microsoft announcement here of $4B investment into the “most powerful computer on the plant X 10” Pres. Brad Smith noted, we are NOT a threat to Lake Michigan water, using max of 4 Olympic pools worth a year. Lake Michigan = 1.9 Trillion Olympic pools.
Don't miss the largest bi-annual business event in Wisconsin - October 9 - Great Food, Drink & Company, @MMAC_Chamber 's All Members Meeting!!

WISCONSIN PUBLIC SCHOOL ENROLLMENT PROJECTIONS
Good news: at 801,207, Wisconsin beat @AppliedPopLab's 2025 estimate.
Bad news: the baby bust is here.
2030: -61,371/-7.7%
2035: -118,613/-14.8%
By 2030, we would have the fewest students since the 1950s, when DPI's public data ends!
Great news for SE Wisconsin- we’re back out of the EPA’s Serious non-attainment zone! The designation never made sense - still work to do but - @MMAC_Chamber and other members of the coalition are on it!

We @cfc_mke will have more to say as this process unfolds over the coming weeks - but there is no more critical challenge for our city to face than how we manage rightsizing AND improving outcomes across our k12 school ecosystem.

Money, trust, or enrollment can run out.
Milwaukee Public Schools has a difficult task: manage what parents perceive as the death of education (closing a school building, complicating their lives) versus what actually is (the slow poison of underinvestment and low achievement).
Badgers kick off season tomorrow with reportedly one of toughest schedules in CF. Deal with it Bucky👊
The 2016 team played 6 top 15 ranked teams went 11-3, then in ‘17 went 13-1. Badger Nation🦡
@OsborneDavid Also a window into Milwaukee’s MPS future? Indy is steps ahead of a similar trajectory for MPS. Indy public school system now has a little over 18,000 students. Indy parents choosing charter and private schools, or enrolling outside district.
A key issue - and one DPI's own team also pointed out last year: because of how DPI lowered the bar, low-poverty schools got 9x the report card bump as higher-poverty ones.
We shouldn't set lower expectations for any of our students, just because of their families' income.
