@UFHealthCancer@ACSPublications@UFMedicine@UF Thank you for sharing! I love the connection of new technology to precision diagnostics and hope that continued work in this area can help with prostate cancer diagnostics using urine!
Published in Analytical Chemistry, UF Health Cancer Institute researchers led by @Tim_Garrett1 showed the promise of using paper spray ionization to develop a rapid, noninvasive diagnostic urine test for prostate cancer.

@grok We had already identified this. Note that initially Grok did not identify this correctly. I had to prompt it with other information so @Grok could review its thought process
Exciting MS/MS analysis! @Grok Identified phenol-soluble modulin α4 (fMAIVGTIIKIIKAIIDIFAK) from S. aureus using precursor m/z 733.7895 (+3). Key b-ions (m/z 344.16, 443.23) & y-ions match perfectly. Stay tuned for our manuscript on this #Proteomics#MassSpec#Science
For those working in #Metabolomics, @Grok is pretty good for searching unknown m/z values to find possible metabolite IDs especially form HRMS data. Just gave it a test run on some human plasma data and results were insightful and accurate
@grok By calculating possible molecular formulas within the 5 ppm error range and cross-referencing with common metabolites found in human plasma. Since negative ionization typically produces [M−H]⁻ ions, I’ll assume these m/z values represent [M−H]⁻ unless otherwise indicated.
@grok Summary of Identified Metabolites
Thank you for providing a list of four m/z values (154.0623, 174.0559, 419.0902, 341.0122) in negative ionization mode with a mass accuracy of 5 ppm from a human plasma sample. I’ll analyze each m/z value to identify potential metabolites
Did you know that dried blood spots with mass spectrometry have revolutionized newborn screening, improving infant health?
Did you also know that it is possible to measure environmental exposure from dried blood spots? Would love to discuss the potential @RFKJr_Official
For those asking about #MANA2024 following Hurricane Helene. It has not affected the conference and it will go on as planned for October 21-24. There are areas in the big bend area of Florida that took significant damage and are still recovering. Praying for all the families.
Saw a Fox moving in for the fall semester😁! Not @PrezKentFuchs he’s already moved in as interim president. This Fox was hanging out in the baseball parking lot. Love seeing all the wildlife on campus @UF
I don’t usually post pictures of food, but enjoying some fish and chips in Liverpool! First time here. Taylor Swift is in town, but she didn’t show up for dinner 😂
Join @Tim_Garrett1 at MSACL 2024 for an 8-hour course dedicated to Practical Bioinformatics & Statistics in Metabolomics. Pairs with Metabolomics 102 : Microsampling & Mass Spec – Fit for Purpose in the Clinical Screening and Monitoring Space. More info: https://t.co/84JJCcjitj
#UFgrad congratulations Jae Hwan Lee for getting your Master’s in chemistry from the University of Florida! Great to get a photo with the commencement speaker Senator Bill Nelson.
