Her family's house was seized by force, and they were left with nothing to do but stand and look on as the occupation demolished it before their eyes.

She calls the Israeli occupation soldiers thieves, frauds and swindlers who steal indigenous people's houses, her voice breaking between rage and helplessness. The home was torn down to make way for the expansion of illegal Israeli colonial settlements, which are populated in large part by settlers brought in from the United States, Europe and elsewhere to live on stolen Palestinian land. This is part of a deliberate annexation policy.

According to the UN, Israeli authorities demolished 1,288 Palestinian structures in the West Bank in the first nine months of 2025 alone, nearly five a day, displacing more than 1,400 people and affecting close to 38,000, mostly over the lack of building permits that are nearly impossible for Palestinians to obtain. Between 2009 and 2022, demolitions drove over 13,000 Palestinians from their homes, as the occupation steadily empties the land of its people to hand it to illegal colonial settlers.
