I stop by my Momma's house just about every day.
The economic and public health crisis caused by COVID-19 is taking a toll on all of us.
We must work to tackle this crisis with real solutions, humility, and hope.

Congratulations to ACC Coach of the Year, Jeff Capel! Well deserved! Your Dad and Grandfather are pleased as they tell one another, "I told you so!" Our old neighborhood is proud of you!
Judge Johnnie Rawlinson of the U.S. Court of Appeals, 9th Circuit and Judge Jerry Blackwell of the U.S. District Court of Minnesota are both products of the public schools of Kannapolis. Your family, friends, and hometown are so proud.
Thanks to the members of the NC African American Heritage Commission and to @NC_Governor for this honor.

Ernest and I were proud to join Judge Jerry Blackwell as the UNC School of Law presented to him the Distinguished Alumnus Award.
Congratulations to Judge Blackwell on the award and on his recent confirmation by the U. S. Senate to the U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota.
I co-chair the @ncjustice Board with Dean Melissa Essary. We lined up with Fayetteville friends to say goodbye at reception honoring departing Executive Director Rick Glazier!
North Carolina is a better place to live, because of Rickβs seven years of dedicated service.
The next generation of Democratic leadership was in full view over the last few days. We are in good hands!

Congratulations, @KyraHBolden for this historic and deserved appointment. I commend @GovWhitmer for making this choice for Michigan's Supreme Court. Progress made!
Today, I have the distinct honor of announcing my intention to appoint @KyraHBolden to the Michigan Supreme Court.
She is the right Michigander with the right experience for the job.Β Hereβs why β¬οΈ
North Carolina and the nation have lost a great social justice champion with the passing of former NC NAACP President Dr. Anthony Spearman. Together we worked for a fair and impartial NC judiciary. My deepest condolences are extended to his family.
Rest In Peace, Dr. Spearman.
Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson said it wonderfully, βI am truly grateful to be part of the promise of our great Nation."
AT LAST!!

As Co-Chair of the Board of @ncjustice, I had the pleasure of addressing the Mandela Fellows (@WashFellowship ) in their visit to NC. These young people are the future leaders of sub Saharan Africa.
At a time when it seems impossible to get anything done in Washington, bipartisan members of Congress and I did something. The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act will save lives.
This week the nation celebrated the 50th Anniversary of #TitleIX, a game changer for gender equity. It created new opportunities for girls in high school sports. I was one of those girls.

As a former justice, it pains me to think of the damage this decision inflicts on the trust citizens place in our Courts. Many of these Justices agreed at confirmation that Roe was established precedent and todayβs opinion calls the veracity of their statements into question.
Roe v. Wade is no longer the law of the land. Roe was and should have remained established precedent. The Courts should protect rights, not take them away. As a Justice, I carried that tenet with me throughout my career in every decision and case.
Giving Mother her "flowers" while she can enjoy them. The family honored the education legacy of our parents with the naming of The Timmons Seminar Room at the @UNCStoneCenter. I encourage everyone to read about the Stone Center and consider giving: https://t.co/DXP9pwIC2W
This all comes just days after last's weeks destruction of life in the Black community of Buffalo, NY. These are lives lost too soon. We are making a CHOICE to allow gun violence to go unaddressed. Legislative action was needed sooner and we canβt go another day without it.
Last Thursday morning I served as a speaker at a local elementary school βcross over ceremonyβ honoring the fifth graders promoted to middle school. The event brought me so much joy to see these young people in school and living their lives.
When the unimaginable thought that any young personβs life would be snuffed out by a senseless act of gun violence is not only imaginable, itβs commonplace, I am left in tears. I pray for the families.
