George Washington was the last independent president. He had this to say about the formation of political parties:
“It serves always to distract the public councils and enfeeble the public administration. It agitates the community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms, kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection. It opens the door to foreign influence and corruption, which finds a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passions. Thus the policy and the will of one country are subjected to the policy and will of another.”
@DandyChigginsMD@jemillerbalt Folks who want sustainable energy are generally in favor of preserving wild spaces. Folks who want to proliferate fossil fuels are intrinsically in favor of compromising wild spaces.
@Dinker711@jemillerbalt It’s not a balancing act. There are profiteering forces that wish to exploit nature for temporary, unsustainable gain and those fighting to preserve the majesty of nature. These are not coordinated efforts, they are opposing forces.
@ComputerSageJAB@Mr_Wilson900 The impact of a fire is not the same as that from spraying herbicides & pesticides, dividing migration habitat with roads and cutting down what remains. Spend a few minutes thinking about your position and it will crumble.
@Dinker711@jemillerbalt “It’s my opinion”
“Sorry if the truth doesn’t fit your narrative.”
What a way to start & end. Even with a robot writing for you…
Doing 2-3 things intelligently is more effective than doing 10 things for the sake of doing 10 things.
Hate him all you want, Strickland has an irrefutable efficiency to his style.
@sleepy_devo A S&P ETF is a great investment vehicle, but the discussion requires nuance.
Where are we renting vs buying? How much is one putting into house equity vs S&P? Etc.
@sleepy_devo Depends on the house and interest rates. A home purchase can become a cash flowing rental with equity & appreciation. Interest is a write off.
Your rent can be raised $300/mo one year to the next. Your landlord can choose not to renew, causing moving & deposit expenses.
Trump’s USDA boss, Brooke Rollins, is gutting the Roadless Rule to sell off 58M acres of our national forests to logging companies. They fired +20k workers to push this through
We fought for this since2001. Selling out our public lands for logging profits is flat-out disgraceful
@ComputerSageJAB@Mr_Wilson900 We really don’t. Our wild spaces are shrinking and the trees don’t grow fast enough to support the logging. Once we kill these ecosystems they take generations to revive. We need to regrow these wild spaces not strip them for parts.
@N0331Hello Such a unique fighter. Tough as hell, good grappling with weak takedowns, nasty kicks with so-so boxing, endless cardio, high motor and seemed to find success in unorthodox moments. I can’t think of a good comp in modern mma.
@Dinker711@jemillerbalt This makes no difference to the ecosystems that would be destroyed. The loss of life will not rejoice that it was a lease instead of a sale.
Make no mistake, although today’s lease sale has fallen far short of this administration's promises, the Arctic Refuge was still put on the auction block.
We aren't done. We won't rest until there are NO leases in the Arctic Refuge. #ProtectTheArctic
