Have you noticed there are no other sheep in Psalm 23?
It's not a poem about a good shepherd caring for a flock.
It's a poem about a Good Shepherd caring for one sheep.
Green pastures, still waters, the healing of the soul... even the table prepared.
It's all for "me".
The Lord is *my* shepherd.
That's the theme of the psalm.
Yes, the Lord cares for others as well.
But not in Psalm 23.
It's one of the most deeply personal parts of the Bible,
about how the Lord is a safe place for me.
