These images, from Lebanon, represent barely the tip of the ‘iceberg’ of crimes & bird massacres occurring throughout the Mediterranean on a daily basis at this time of year.
Just like the overfishing of our oceans, our skies are also being exploited towards ecological collapse.

Those in red wall seats who vote for tories need to know tories view them with utter contempt. Tory home Secretary calls NE Town "a shithole". Two faced Tory MPs for other NE towns will think the same but lie to keep the seat. Or jump ship at next week election. They don't care!
Red - throated Diver still on Butterley Res this morning, Swanwick side. Diving frequently but great views on this small water. Thanks to John Keeling for finding this bird yesterday. 👏
📢 Possibly Malta’s largest mock ‘research’ effort has just started today thanks to a so-called derogation which transforms bird trappers into researchers by the powers of Minister @ClintCamilleri.
With the excuse of catching #finches to research them (and then supposedly letting them go), a total of just over 3,000 trappers shall be utilising over 2,600 trapping site locations strewn across Malta and Gozo for this purpose. A further 1,364 sites shall be permitted to legally trap (i.e. catch and keep) #SongThrush (Malvizz) and #GoldenPlover (Pluviera).
🐦 Trapping sites are clearings in fields and even natural land (including Natura 2000 sites) which are authorised to trap by the Wild Birds Regulation Unit (WBRU) irrespective of ownership status. At such sites, clap-nets are laid on the floor, lined with various caged birds to attract their wild counterparts. A small hut or hide is normally used by the trapper to operate the nets.
⚠️ Want to know if a site you have walked past or in your area is legally allowed to operate? We’ve downloaded the data sets of authorised locations by WBRU on Google Maps which can be accessed from here: https://t.co/DO3HzdFHEm.
📱 A smartphone with your location on can help you navigate across Malta’s research trapping landscape.
‼ Found something illegal or suspicious? Illegal trapping sites are best reported by taking photos and marking their exact map coordinates. Such information can be sent to us via Facebook messenger, or directly relayed to the @MaltaPolice Environmental Protection Unit (EPU) by calling 119.
📹 CABS team shut down huge trapping site in the Buffer Zone #Cyprus.
As we approached, the trapper who was killing the caught birds ran away – thankfully UN Police soon picked him up & we managed to save and release 12 other life birds inc this beautiful barn swallow!
If we can't save Penrhos, what can we save? County council agreed Anglesey nature reserve to become a mega holiday chalet town, despite red squirrels, ANOB, SSSI. Developer 'Land&Lakes' wants to 'offset' loss of 27 acres of woodland to a toxic dump site. https://t.co/o1GZ7k41lL
