I’ve had the same question. I found that there is value for motivated owners trying to get help. I believe owners preparing to exit are the best to position it to.
I just finished one month, on retainer, standardizing documents/processes for a SMB. looking to narrow in and do more of it.
My initial approach was from an exit planning angle, via brokers, to help straighten things out. Not all owners are open to outside help like this without clear motive..
The first month was pretty hands on, two times onsite per week. Remotely works well if the owner has time to step out of daily ops.
