My purpose is teaching. My teaching priorities: know them, connect, encourage belief, love unconditionally and then I know they will receive what I teach!
I promise...
If you build relationships and show students that their stories matter---
they will always have your back!
You may still have hard times, but no relationship is perfect.
They are worth it!! #whyiteach ❤ #teachertwitter right @mr_Alsheimer ?
The President dedicated one line on education in his State of the Union. Why is education not a priority in our Great Country? Why is it not in the forefront along with the wall, immigration, taxes, etc. Education should be a national emergency in this country.
What school needs to consist of during the first two weeks:
✔️Build Community
✔️Observe social behaviors
✔️Establish procedures
✔️LOTS of reading aloud
✔️Explicitly teach empathy
✔️4 min 1:1 time with each kid
✔️Call each family

Some kids have really tough years at school. If you will be teaching one of these kids this year, hit the reset button. That kids needs a chance. In fact, that kid deserves as many chances as that kid needs in order to experience success and feel valued.
We cannot give up.
Each student deserves a teacher/principal who won't hold their past transgressions against them.
Each student deserves the opportunity to start the next day with a clean slate.
Here is an idea! Right at testing I learned several of my students were having problems at home or had no home. I wanted to find a way at testing to encourage them. I had these wristbands made. On test day I gave them to all my students.
After a long week of testing we pushed all the desk to the side and did skittle math! As I sat on my beanbag observing I realized I need more of push the desk away and get in the floor next year! #KidsDeserveIt#urvestersbest
You can earn all the degrees, titles, and accolades. You can be certified, highly-qualified, and even an ambassador. You can be well-versed in content, research, and fields of study. But if you can't connect with people, then teaching isn't for you. #HamstraHighlights
Lots of kids come to school with their invisible backpacks, weighted with struggles.
Stress, worry, fear, anxiety, trauma, lack of physical needs, loneliness, anger, sadness, & hopelessness can make them so heavy; too heavy for learning to happen.
Notice & love them instead.
@bethhill2829 I am so excited I have come across your inspiring tweets. I am wanting to truly stress the importance of loving out kids in my school. That connection is so important. Thank you!!!
