@frocksoffantasy @MarkDL66 @Cooperstreaming@Kriscilicious These replies are awful so I wanted to chime in. You are entitled to your story. Your pain is real, your experience is valid. I’m a therapist, I see this every day, even when kids aren’t physically or sexually abused, neglect, verbal and emotional abuse do plenty to f someone up
@Cooperstreaming@Kriscilicious Also it’s narcissistic af. Oh, only YOU can teach your child? And teachers having eyes at least sometimes on your child in the outside world guards against abuse.
@Theholisticpsyc@Theholisticpsyc would love to see a thread on the survivors of childhood trauma who are left “holding the bag.” The ones tasked w doing all the feeling, the ones who are “mentally unstable.”
@MightBeBruce@Theholisticpsyc IFS Internal Family systems. Try the book “No Bad Parts.” Essentially you want to turn towards this guilty part that starves you to understand where it comes from, what it’s trying to do. Changing the relationship to it can modify the behavior.
@recohn99 @Theholisticpsyc My child has a heart defect and has had 2 open heart surgeries at 4mo and 22mo. He’s 15 years old now, healthy as a horse, but I still see the effects of the experience on him. PM me if you want to chat more. I know this pain.
