@67brics@Ulf_Othvegin@YourAnonCentral His personal history makes me dislike him but that’s not why I discount him. It’s the bad predictions and the pattern of always taking the most controversial position. That’s not analysis, that’s grifting an audience that wants to hear it.
@67brics@Ulf_Othvegin@YourAnonCentral Even on Iraq he was wrong a lot, he predicted the US would be incapable of defeating them and wouldn’t even be able to take bagdad which for someone with his experience and seeing first hand all of Iraqs defenses is a massive miss also his WMD stance was a flip.
@67brics@Ulf_Othvegin@YourAnonCentral I watched in real time as his predictions failed repeatedly. A broader church is fine but why would you include a voice that is almost never right. Dissent only has value if it has some grounding in reality. You will never sway anyone with insults so I try to restrain.
@Ulf_Othvegin@67brics@YourAnonCentral He said Russia wouldn’t invade Ukraine. Then said Ukraine would fall in a week. Neither happened. In 2003 he said the US couldn’t take Baghdad, it fell in weeks. He is wrong constantly. And he is a convicted sex offender. The credible platforms know both of these things.
@67brics@Ulf_Othvegin@YourAnonCentral He doesn’t have valuable perspective because within his actual field he is almost always wrong and not taken seriously by anyone in it. You like his perspective because you agree with it, not because it’s credible. He has the resume, but not the track record or peer respect.
@Rabbitinformant@WonderbreadMMA Do trans women currently compete against women in any combat sports? I know there were 2 trans fighters in lesser known leagues but that’s banned now. But they are also not in the same weight class so not equal.
@john__1981@FergusAristotle@sickofdischit@KareemRifai Abortions per capita includes women who aren’t pregnant and can’t have abortions. Abortions vs live births measures actual pregnancy outcomes, when there is a baby or an abortion as the option, how often is abortion chosen. That’s the only comparison that matters.
@john__1981@FergusAristotle@sickofdischit@KareemRifai Correct, births collapsed because Russians aren’t having children, that’s the demographic crisis. A society choosing abortion over birth whether by procedure or simply not conceiving is still rejecting family formation. The ratio captures that reality perfectly.
@67brics@Ulf_Othvegin@YourAnonCentral That’s a lot of words to defend someone whose expertise isn’t even IR, who is wrong most of the time, and who the credible shows in his actual field won’t book. Mearsheimer said the same NATO thing. Ritter isn’t special.
@john__1981@FergusAristotle@sickofdischit@KareemRifai Except it hasn’t been. I clearly showed you that. The abortion vs live birth ratio has increased 40% since 2020, from 314 to 440 per 1,000 live births. Abortions vs live births is the best metric and on that metric the trend is getting worse not better.
@john__1981@FergusAristotle@sickofdischit@KareemRifai Except you said russia is trending down when they are actually trending up in 2020 they were 314 abortions per 1,000 live births and in 2023 they were 440 per 1,000
@john__1981@sickofdischit@FergusAristotle@KareemRifai Again everything I have stated is factual. You are using extrapolative expectations it ignores the real possibility the rates could hit a floor & masks human behavior adaptations based on economics and a hole slew of other factors. Russia is up 40% since 2020 BTW so…
@john__1981@FergusAristotle@sickofdischit@KareemRifai I didn’t ignore it, I acknowledged it. The trend doesn’t change the current ranking nor does it guarantee it continues. I noticed you’ve stopped arguing whether Russia ranks amongst the highest, because it does.
