President Trump now has a golden opportunity to make good on his pledge to “protect persecuted Christians,” “stop the violence and ethnic cleansing” and “restore PEACE between Armenia and Azerbaijan.” If he wishes, the President can let the world know today that he wants the Swiss government to act on a parliamentary motion calling for a Swiss-organized international peace forum involving Azerbaijan - the perpetrator of the ethnic and religious cleansing of Armenian Christians from Nagorno Karabakh - and the elected representatives of the victimized community.

Here is the text of the motion that the Foreign Affairs Committee of the upper house of the Swiss parliament approved yesterday. It has already been approved by the lower house. The Swiss government will be obliged to organize such a forum, including representatives of the people of Nagorno Karabakh, should the full upper house also give its approval, as is expected.

“The Federal Council [the Executive] is instructed to organize an international peace forum on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in the near future, but within one year at the latest. The aim is to facilitate an open dialogue between Azerbaijan and representatives of the Nagorno-Karabakh Armenian people, conducted under international supervision or in the presence of internationally relevant actors, in order to negotiate the safe and collective return of the historically resident Armenian population.” (https://t.co/SqiWSnkRbv)
