Glenn Circulation #7: High-Risk Indicators for Fontan Completion
👉High PVRi, elevated EDP, significant AV valve regurgitation, or ventricular dysfunction can compromise Fontan candidacy.
👉Prior PA/PV interventions or an intact atrial septum suggest anatomic risk and may require careful pre-Fontan assessment.
👉Syndromic, respiratory, and functional factors can increase perioperative risk and should be integrated into Fontan decision-making.

🚨 NEW: Lipid profiles in kids with #AAOCA explored for the first time!
1️⃣ #AAOCA is a rare congenital heart defect linked to sudden cardiac events. Our study of 180 kids @TCHheartcenter shows:
- Triglycerides elevated in 44%
- HDL low in 37%
- Disparities in Hispanic patients
2️⃣ Findings:
🔹 Hispanic kids had higher triglycerides & cholesterol-to-HDL ratios vs others
🚴♂️ 2/3 exercise recreationally, with no lipid differences between competitive & recreational groups.
1/3 of children with #AAOCA report feeling sad, angry, or lonely and ~ 1/2 report feeling different. Read more about our patients’ perceptions in our latest publication!
