Is it weird that I don't have a particular company I'd love to work for? All I ask is:
- A >$1,000/month remote or hybrid content writing role
- 21-30 days paid annual leave
- Reasonable work hours
- Ability to grow and excel
Is it too much to ask?
Good day X,
Temilade have been a realtor for 2 years and she has never closed a single deal before (she never sell any land before).
I don’t know if this will work but pls let’s help her. Her location is Lagos.
Her client might be on your TL.
Your RT will go a long way “PLEASE RETWEET”🙏🏿❤️
Sometimes, all we need is that one person with ACCESS that really wants to see us succeed.
Someone who says “I really want the best for you, I want to see you excel” and they actually mean it.
If you have one of such people in your life, you can get your quantum leap faster and I’m so serious.
I hope I find that person for me and my brand too. So help me God 🙏
Virtual assistant pays but here is the honest truth.
It took me a while to understand this. I had to research, fail, and test things for myself. What I realized is simple:
lower your expectations and increase your outreach.
You can make money from any niche you find yourself in. Yes. You can make money as a virtual assistant, but there’s something the OGs in the space never tell you.
Listen. Most of the people you see bragging about earning big as virtual assistants aren’t just doing VA work. They have other skills. They apply for jobs outside their niche. That’s the real game.
Do you need to apply for jobs outside your niche if you still want to earn that kind of money?
Yes. Absolutely.
If you want to earn at that level, sometimes you need to step outside your niche. It’s not about abandoning what you do, it’s about leveraging what you know to fit what the market is paying for. That’s how real freelancers scale.
Most people rush to Upwork, because yes it’s the biggest freelance platform in the world. But Upwork isn’t a quick money factory. It’s a long-term strategy. Those people earning $100K didn’t do it in a month or two. It took years of consistency, rejection, and discipline. Even now, many of them still take $5 or $10 fixed-price jobs. Not because they have to, but because they understand one truth momentum beats ego.
Here’s the part nobody breaks down for you:
1. You’re not competing with individuals only you’re competing with agencies. Teams of freelancers put money together, buy Connects in bulk, apply for jobs collectively, win the gig, and share the profit. They’ve gamed the system.
Example Barbara, Chloe, and Nadia from Venezuela understood the game in virtual assistant after earning a little they came together after earning $1k+, $50+, $5+ they noticed the market was tough the fastest way was to come together and they generated over $300k+on Upwork
2. Top Rated and Top Rated Plus freelancers dominate visibility. If you’re new, your proposal might not even be seen.
3. Clients outsource globally to save costs. If a U.S. client wanted a high-end consultant, they’d hire locally. The moment they post a job to hire abroad, they’re looking for quality at a lower rate. That’s the market reality. US has (70 million freelancers)
So when you hear someone say they’re making $4K a month as a VA, don’t pressure yourself. Go check what kind of jobs they’re doing, where their clients are coming from, and which platforms they’re using. Many of them are not relying only on Upwork they’re pulling clients from LinkedIn, cold email, and referrals (it does crazy magic).
That’s why you must build a funnel outside Upwork.
Upwork is for warm leads.
LinkedIn is for cold leads and warm leads.
Referrals keep you sustainable.
Even top earners on Upwork still take low-paying jobs sometimes. Not because they can’t earn more, but because staying active keeps their profile visible and their pipeline flowing.
The game has changed. You can’t rely on one platform or one skill anymore. You’ve got to learn how to sell, how to position, and how to diversify your service.
Stop comparing your Day 1 to someone’s Year 5.
You can make money from any niche you’re in but if you’re going to survive and grow in this digital economy, you need to understand how the system works and play smarter than the next person.
Broke ones will rise again.
