SENATE BACK TO WORK FOR THE FILIPINO PEOPLE
We express our deep appreciation and commend the courageous decision of Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero to take the floor today and confront the issues facing the institution. His action sent a clear message: that his commitment to the country, to the Senate, and to the Constitution would prevail above all else.
His presence enabled the Senate to proceed with the discussion of matters that are too important to be left unresolved and too consequential to be set aside.
On the issue of quorum, this is not an uncharted matter. The Supreme Court, in Avelino v. Cuenco, recognized the principle that a quorum of 12 is determined based on the number of members who are legally able to discharge the functions of the Senate.
There is likewise an institutional precedent. In 2015, the Senate recognized a quorum of 12 senators who were within its jurisdiction. The Senate continued to perform its constitutional duties because the work of government could not be placed on hold.
At a time when the nation faces pressing challenges, the Filipino people expect their Senate to work, deliberate, and fulfill its constitutional mandate. The institution cannot remain stalled by disagreements or uncertainty. Our duty is clear: to legislate, provide oversight, and serve the public interest.
The Filipino people deserve a Senate that shows up, does its job, and places public service above politics.
It is time for the Senate to move forward and get back to work for the Filipino people.

Hindi ito certificate of good governance. Hindi ito stamp ng walang anomalya.
Bakit?
Unmodified opinion does NOT mean clean spending.
In case anybody asks me about this, here are a few things you should consider when seeing tweets like this.
It's there a citation of some peer-reviewed source? In this case, it's a news release, which only tells one side of the story.
How far along is the research?
In this case, the technique is happening in a Petri dish, so it has a long way to go. Next is animal testing, then phase I and II clinical trials. After that, is submitted to the FDA for approval. Each of these for steps can take five years and more than half of in vitro research never becomes an approved treatment.
Who will have access? In the car off sickle cell disease, we have a CRISPR cure. It costs USD three million dollars.
All cure research is good, and God bless millionaires who can afford this HIV cure.
My personal feeling is that other strategies are more exciting because they can be scaled up in middle and low income countries ❤️
CDC to end all monkey research by the end of the year.
Most HIV drugs are the product of CDC primate testing before pharma develops them further
That means current studies will be halted, and funding will be wasted. It's like we're entering a new Dark Ages where scientific progress is replaced by magical thinking.

⚠️ 1.3 million people acquired HIV in 2024 alone, including thousands of adolescent girls and young women. WHO recommends twice-yearly injectable lenacapavir as a new effective pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) option to protect people at risk of HIV. Know more: https://t.co/U7OF6cngxd
If you’re on ARVs and also taking multivitamins, don’t take them together. Minerals like iron, calcium, magnesium, or zinc in vitamins can block ARV absorption. Take your ARVs first, then wait 2 hours before vitamins, or if you take vitamins first, wait 6 hours before ARVs.
