What Kashmir has endured is not a rhetorical device for the rest of India to borrow nor a metaphor for every new instance of state repression. Decades of occupation, disappearances cannot be reduced to a metaphor for authoritarianism elsewhere.
Elaine Mokhtefi (1928-2026), the Algerian revolutionary, has died. A key fighter for justice, who worked with the Black Panthers during their Algiers exile (here she is with Kathleen Cleaver), and who wrote a terrific book about that experience, Algiers, Third World Capital:Freedom Fighters, Revolutionaries, Black Panthers (2020, https://t.co/RXKD3Qlk8p).
“We are blamed for the destruction caused by our revolution. . . . Who are the accusers? The hangers-on of the bourgeoisie, of that very bourgeoisie who, during the four years of the imperialist war, have destroyed almost the whole of European culture and have reduced Europe to barbarism, brutality and starvation. These bourgeoisie now demand we should not make a revolution on these ruins, amidst this wreckage of culture, amidst the wreckage and ruins created by the war, nor with the people who have been brutalised by the war. How humane and righteous the bourgeoisie are!
Their servants accuse us of resorting to terror. . . . The British bourgeoisie have forgotten their 1649, the French bourgeoisie have forgotten their 1793. Terror was just and legitimate when the bourgeoisie resorted to it for their own benefit against feudalism. Terror became monstrous and criminal when the workers and poor peasants dared to use it against the bourgeoisie! Terror was just and legitimate when used for the purpose of substituting one exploiting minority for another exploiting minority. Terror became monstrous and criminal when it began to be used for the purpose of overthrowing everyexploiting minority, to be used in the interests of the vast actual majority, in the interests of the proletariat and semi-proletariat, the working class and the poor peasants!”
- Vladimir Lenin (1918)
"The discovery of gold and silver in America, the extirpation, enslavement, and entombment in mines of the indigenous population of that continent, the beginnings of the conquest and plunder of India, and the conversion of Africa into a preserve for the commercial hunting of blackskins, are all things which characterize the dawn of the era of capitalist production. These idyllic proceedings are the chief moments of primitive accumulation.”
- Karl Marx
First, I am a Radical Marxist. A Radical Marxist isn't a liberal to have liberalism in him/her.
Please do not use words so casually. Marxism and Liberalism are not same.
Second, there was no Uighur genocide. If you want to know what this claim is based on, I would be happy to point you to it
Third, China handles dissent a lot better than India or western bourgeois democracies. I can debate this point by point with you. If you had spent your adult life being hounded by a repressive state like I have, you would have had a very different view of democracy. In spite of it, I am patiently engaging you and not calling you names.
Have you lived under AFSPA? Have you ever been arrested and tortured in custody for nothing but dissent?
Have you had family or Comrades disappeared or killed in fake encounters?
No?
When you have had lived experience of it, come back. We will exchange notes on democracy and China.
Lenin and Mao both used simple language in their messaging and newspapers as to not alienate the masses. I think the left could learn from this instead of writing it off as “anti-intellectual”
In Yemen, this rifle is colloquially only known as "Al-Barjanif".
Literally "The Brezhnev".
Named after former Soviet leader Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev.
So when a Saudi merc is shot with this rifle, he's shot by none other than Brezhnev himself.
Important Strategic areas have been secured by the National Liberation forces of Ansar Allah today. This is not just a victory for the axis of resistance in the region but a victory to all oppressed people of the world against US imperialism and the Zionist expansionist project.
"Once Stalin was buried, Hitler came out of his tomb. And in Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Slovakia, etc., all the fascist heroes are resurrected, ilk such as Vlasov, Bandera, Antonescu, Tiso and other Nazi collaborators. The destruction of the Berlin Wall heralded the rise of neo-Nazism in Germany. Today, when faced with the unleashing of capitalism and fascism in Eastern Europe, it is easier to understand that Stalin did in fact defend worker's power.."
-Ludo Martens, Another View of Stalin, 1994
