@WinterSportsLaw Have there been any class of ‘25 lawsuits yet? I am surprised that players starting college in 2021 have not jumped on this. Conceivably, they will be the only class not to get 5 years since Covid
@BradleyFans_com@urbanbobby5@GoodmanHoops That is incorrect. The graduating class of 2025 only had 4 years of eligibility. The NCAA screwed up by deferring a decision on 5 for 5 until this when they were considering in Jan of 2025.
@D1Jerseys1@WinterSportsLaw I am surprised that hasn’t happened yet. The NCAA should get out of the of the eligibility issue all together. Push that to the schools and let them decide. Enrolled = eligible. The lawsuits are never going to stop.
@WinterSportsLaw So what happens if these lawsuits are won or the NCAA changes the rule to 5 in 5 to the class that graduated in 25? They only played 4 years, but their 5 year window would be closed once this is resolved. Many players have moved on with their lives but they could have earned NIL
@WinterSportsLaw Does the commercial/non-commercial question only apply to the sports that are receiving the House settlement rev share? All these cases have been fb & bb players. The Olympic sport athletes aren’t getting any of that money but can still get NIL. Not sure it should matter
@OneTrueAggie@WinterSportsLaw In theory this is true, but when you are getting paid millions to play a sport in college, paying taxes, etc. it sure seems like a job. If you had the opportunity to make $1M as a 22 year old by playing a 5th year, I bet most of us would be fighting for a 5th year too
@WinterSportsLaw The NCAA should have addressed the 5 for 5 decision in the beginning of this year. By delaying that decision they are going to be inundated with lawsuits
@AlwaysCallHeads@WinterSportsLaw I don’t disagree, but honestly, what do they have to lose? I agree they won’t play them, but the entire system is so broken now, I would be tempted
@MiquelBIW@WinterSportsLaw They should have passed it earlier this year when it was first being explored because there are almost daily lawsuits on eligibility and if they decide now on 5 in 5 rule there will be a bunch of new lawsuits from the recently graduated players who only got 4 yrs of eligibility
@SnowMiser84@WinterSportsLaw Agree, but now there is way more money at stake so there is going to be more & more lawsuits on eligibility rules. If the NCAA said it is up to the individual schools to decide who is eligible, then all those lawsuits go away for the NCAA
@WinterSportsLaw@heitner@samcehrlich@tori_daffin28@NCAA@JUCOFFrenzy@4PlayingTime If they apply it in the fall of 2026, there will be another wave of lawsuits from the athletes who graduated in 2025. That class would be the only class excluded from 5 years of eligibility because of Covid ahead of them and then a change in eligibility after they graduated
@mbrew1964@SouthwestAir I got the same response a few weeks ago! You are 💯 correct. No reason to pay for multiple upgrades or higher tix class to get a priority seating number. A passenger saved 2 exit row seats and called me an a-hole because I wanted to sit in the saved seat.
