We won! The votes are in and a majority of PMA staff have voted UNION YES! We are grateful for all the support we've received throughout this process, and look forward to working with all of our colleagues to build a stronger and more sustainable PMA!
After our union voted 98% in favor of authorizing a strike, we hoped the company would meet us back at the bargaining table with urgency. Unfortunately, all they’ve done since last week is make excuses for continuing to stall.
🚨 ACTION NEEDED 🚨 We learned today that @DukeU has hired anti-union law firm Ogletree Deakins in response to our organizing efforts. They’re willing to spend big money on union-busting lawyers to avoid negotiating with us on our own working conditions!
Please join us (in person or virtually) for a union solidarity rally tomorrow at 11 A.M.! We’ll be live-tweeting and streaming the speaker portion here on Twitter. (Masks and social distancing are required for in-person attendees!)

Yesterday, we undertook a twenty-four-hour work stoppage to demand fair wages. Today, we return to work, many of us still grossly underpaid. In the weeks ahead, we expect management to engage in good faith and negotiate from a place of respect for our members and the work we do.
Today, the New Yorker Union is undertaking a twenty-four-hour work stoppage in protest of @newyorker management's egregious wage proposal. Our statement: https://t.co/PAVqoPdqDW

The precedent has been set. A member union has publicly called on the @AFLCIO to disaffiliate from police unions. My dear rank and file union siblings, the time is now to organize, and to force the issue. And to union leadership:
Your move.
