@LozzaFox Hate to sound sexist but i actually can't stand women commentators on men's games. Don't mind women refs/lines women/4th officials or obv woman commentators in women's games but there's just something about gossiping yapping bimbo types on men's games that really annoys me lmao.
@catturd2 England has a Muslim population of about 4m out of a population of 57m... why obsess over a clear minority when the majority of England is Christian or Atheist??
@TBrit90 Suspending them was a bit far. A big ass chewing by their commander and a promise to suspend them if they did it again would suffice. Flying in a slow straight line over a beach at 100ft isn't that bad.
@defense_civil25 Not true, the Belgians handed their gun over to the airport police when they landed back in Belgium. The UK delegation left their gun in Turkey so it could be "decommissioned" (like led filling the barrell) so it could then be legally easier to put it on display in the UK.
@Polymarket Technically not "illegal" outright but would have to mess around with an overly strict bureaucratic licensing process with multiple different types of licenses, conditions etc especially for a handgun which is the hardest "legally" own in the UK compared to rifles and shotguns.
@LOS_Fisher Sums up ridiculous petty UK gun laws perfectly. Before 1997 any man or woman who applied for a license, passed a background check, got their doctor's signature, and installed a gun safe at home could own a handgun... and there was (and should be today) nothing wrong with that.
@edb146@LawrenceBoakArt@PolitlcsUK It actually does. Take out the top 5 US cities for gun crime which happen to also be heavily Black, poor and gang filled, and US gun crime rates plummet down to that of European countries. There are actually about a dozen US states that have less gun murders per year than the UK.
@PolitlcsUK Ironically today there are over 2 million legally owned rifles and shotguns in the UK yet mass shootings are very rare, so why the need to still keep handguns "banned" for people who would willingly be licensed vetted owners of them, many of who already own rifles and shotguns๐คทโโ๏ธ
@PolitlcsUK Handguns should never have been "banned" in 1997 in the UK, it was just an emotionally driven knee jerk reaction to a rare isolated school shooting where the perpetrator used a handgun, so of course the ignorant uneducated masses jumped on the "handguns bad, ban them" wagon...
@PeterEl24449654@NavyLookout@kon_marine If it wasn't for the penny pinchers that concept would be a good idea... 2x QE carriers and 4x LHA "light carriers" with a main focus on marine/amphibious ops but with the ability to host a mix of up to say 18x helicopters and F-35B. Enabling a "6 carrier" navy if ever needed.
@NavyLookout@kon_marine Real curious to know also if they are going for conventional or flat top design. Also i'd really hope they will be properly armed warships with say a 57/76mm gun and at least A 24x+ cell VLS so they can actually transit alone and defend themselves in hostile areas like a FFG/DDG.
@NavyLookout Finally something, could be worse but could be better. 4 mid size LPDs to replace a 2010s fleet of at peak 8 amphib ships. If they properly arm them with a main gun and Mk 41 VLS then they could relieve pressure on the frigate/destroyers and give an uplift in blue water warships.
@BradRTorgersen There's no such thing as a "NATO defense bill", each member sets its own funding for its own military. The current agreement is at least 2% GDP spending on defense per member rising to 3.5% by 2035. All but a couple members spend 2% or above today.
