突然、部屋の電話が鳴った。
私は受付の言葉を思い出し、無視した。
電話は30秒ほど鳴り続け、やがて止まった。
ほっとした瞬間、スマホにホテルからメッセージが届いた。
「お客様、先ほどの電話には出ませんでしたよね？」
私は驚いて返信した。
私：「はい。どうして分かるんですか？」
受付：「よかったです。今夜はそのままお休みください。」
私はスマホを置いた。
すると、再び電話が鳴った。
今度は、受話器から小さな声が聞こえた。
「……開けてください。」
私は凍りついた。
電話には出ていない。受話器も置いたままだ。
それなのに、声ははっきり聞こえた。
「ここは私の部屋です。」
私は慌ててフロントに電話した。
