@helenstaniland - mis-posted something as a reply on one of your tweets earlier. Not bad, just wrong place. Sorry about that, thanks for being nice about it.
A couple on a Cancun vacation sent me this. I’m flattered they are spending their time away reading this - probably better to read this world while a long way away from anything like it.
In pre-movie dinner time, my 11 yt old starts asking me deep questions about a follow up to Paper Father. (I read the book to him a couple months ago). It’s still on his mind and he has sequel ideas! Now… I can’t stop planning it in my head (and I have 2 projects ahead of it!)
This evening we got into a conversation and Christopher Walken came up. As we tried to figure out where our son had heard of Walken, our son says “he did - more cowbell”. We did show him that SNL skit… and we are now winning at parenting.
Talked to someone recently who told me they are loving “Paper Father” on audio book. Then I told them it isn’t available on audio book. We are both still quite confused.
Just finished reading “Paper Father” out loud to my son. One of the cooler experiences I’ve had. I did voices and everything - now I’m wondering about doing it for the audiobook.
News flash! Managing marketing for a book is less fun than writing or talking about said book.
Stay tuned for more hot takes and cutting edge observations.
Today I’m basking in the ironic glow of being a bad parent - struggling - while knowing many people have read the parenting in my novel and found it helpful and inspiring.
Been spending a lot of brain time on my new novel... but keep reminding myself that “Paper Father” has been incredibly well received but the push to make it go wide is up to me. This part isn’t my gift but I’m learning.
