I'm gonna sound old as fuck but I felt the same way in the early 2000s, pre internet each set release was a game store party, nobody knew what was in the sets aside from promo material, every booster was mysterious, and the singles on display were something you could pour time into reading.

When people started making decklists online and ordering cards online to build decks the quality of games you could get with randos at the card shops dropped. There were no friendlies anymore and every meetup turned real sweaty to the point it felt like making a deck was no longer about creative freedom and strategizing it was thematically dialed in.

Occasionally I'll boot MTGA just to goof off for old times sake but it really isn't the same anymore.

@fw_naetoblaq I was in GATE in the late 90s, somewhere near Orlando. It was weird, I got diagnosed with ADHD and was one of the trial kids for Adderall. Didn't realize till I was 30 when I had autism and now I'm just like, well shit.

In this dudes case he sounds like he just needs a couple good wins and his trajectory will correct, would have helped me at that age too.
