A Multi-Center, Adaptive Platform Randomized Controlled Trial to evaluate the efficacy of repurposed therapies in treating early SARS-CoV-2: the TOGETHER trial
TOGETHER Study finds ivermectin no more beneficial than placebo in reducing hospitalisations or ER observations >6 hours in 12 sites, double-blind, platform RCT in Brazil https://t.co/WADMrW4sj3
In 20 Jan 2021 @TogetherTrial enrolled its first patient. Exactly one year later nobody could predict these waves and variants of concern that are still overcrowding public health worldwide. Still so much to learn!

Correction: The switch to three doses of Ivermectin in the TOGETHER Trial occurred before the most recent interim analysis. The trial schema has been updated on the website.
A well-researched article summarizing the findings of trials, including @TogetherTrial, evaluating the effectiveness of repurposed therapies for outpatient treatment fo COVID-19 by @elandhuis
Outpatient #COVID19 drugs could already be on pharmacy shelves, but testing them takes time and $$ that gov't & pharma will rarely spend. Thanks to philanthropy (eg @treatearly@Parsemus), studies are in progress & should yield answers soon. 1/n

@socialHATchat @Covid19Critical We have amended our protocol paused allocation to the ivermectin arm while the IRB reviews our amendment to include 3 doses.
“Results from adequately powered, well-designed, and well-conducted clinical trials are needed to provide more specific, evidence-based guidance on the role of ivermectin in the treatment of COVID-19.” - NIH recommendation Feb 11th 2021

@maggieoutabout Hi there, thanks for connecting with us. The study protocol amended since the change in study arms from HCQ and LPV/r will be posted this week. We'll tweet it out as well.
@maggieoutabout At this time we only have regulatory approval for recruitment from Brazilian and South African regulators. Seeking approval from Health Canada would take longer than the trial - we will have results from Brazil and SA in 4-6 weeks.
The previous iteration of the TOGETHER Trial evaluating HCQ and LPV/r was stopped by our DSMB for futility - (publication soon). The story of HCQ was one of unnecessary politicisation. Here is a narrative commentary by our team on the Rise and Fall of HCQ. https://t.co/5MbCFXur3e
"The need for treatments in early disease is paramount. Evidence is quickly emerging that suggests a number of drugs may have a promising effect on reducing COVID-19 disease severity in patients with mild to moderate disease”
