What Liquidity Means

In finance and investing, liquidity is how easily you can buy or sell an asset without drastically affecting its price.

Think of it like water:

* If it flows easily → high liquidity.

Liquidity in stocks

Liquidity usually comes from exchanges:

High Liquidity:

* You can buy or sell a stock quickly.
* Prices remain stable.
* Example: GTB shares or Meta stock on a major exchange.

Low Liquidity:

* Buying or selling can take days/months and isn’t guaranteed .

I own a small bakery. Business has been slow. Rent is up. I was thinking about closing.

Last Friday, a teenager came in. He looked nervous. He counted out change for a cookie. He was short 50 cents.

Do you ever wonder why Hillsong United don't release all the powerful songs they often give us every now and then any longer?

Hillsong New York was one of the fastest growing megachurches in NYC with average weekly attendance of over 7,000. They even had to expand to multiple locations and large venues to accommodate the crowds. It was commonly suggested that the Church was more popular than Jesus in NYC. The brand was that powerful.

There are usually long queues waiting for one service to finish so another can start. However following the sexual scandal involving their lead pastor Carl Lentz and the multiple cover ups, the church literally started to struggle and have since been facing severe attendance crisis with multiple empty seats.

This became worsened following sexual accusations involving their Founding Pastor Brian Houston leading church board to sack him. Things even became more complicated after the Australian government investigated Brian for covering up the sexual offences of his late father, Frank Houston.

The wife of Carl Lentz don't even go to church again, so many other people have stopped going to church that were former active of the church.

Given Hillsong NYC was started by Carl Lentz and Joel Houston, the scandal of Hillsong NYC directly affected Hillsong United which was directly under Hillsong NYC. Consequently, the sins of some selected people scattered one of the biggest church in the world and their music ministry.

Church cover up is dangerous and counterproductive, it pushes the wounded away from the faith while attempting to protect the guilty.

The Nigerian churches better learn from stories like this and stop the culture of protecting "integrity" at the expense of godly accountability.

In all of this, I am particularly happy for Carl Lentz because of his soberness and intentional pursuit of redemption.
