Square Enix finally learning from the success Nihon Falcom is having with Ys and The Legend of Heroes games.
Octopath Traveler 0 and
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales
@PlayerEssence Multiple pillar strategy. We can literally have both.
Square can make big and small turn based or action based games.
Even reuse assets from one to make the other.
Sorry, but I do nothing but eye-roll when I see YouTubers FINALLY ARRIVE at what I’ve been saying for over a DECADE now.
The industry is captured by 3rd party. 3rd party has always wanted to go all-digital.
@longislandviper Absolutely wrong on all fronts and completely ignores Nintendo's dominance and why- exclusives.
Animal Crossing outsold COD Cold War life to date sales across every platform- on ONE PLATFORM, in ONE YEAR.
Never ignore how gaming press actively attempts to move the overton window the moment the standard only applies to a company that doesn't fund them as much as other options.
Nothing Nintendo does ever "counts" unless it's negative.
Stating the obvious years later.
Execs didn’t want to invest the time to grow those franchises the way Nintendo has done for decades.
Too many execss only care about AAA because, with enough marketing, they can ride the hype to 10M+ million copies sold
They never were- they were CONDITIONED to by press and other influencers using early manipulation tactics like the "console wars", "HD twins", and shoving specs they themselves didn't understand as main stories instead of how fun the games are.
Imagine being TOLD how to have FUN
I see too many posts talking about Diminishing Returns as if it's all of a sudden NEW now (especially with the advent of AI/no PS5 discs).
Dimishing Returns was there when Iwata said so- you just didn't listen and folks called for his job while he was literally dying.
People are asking why are deveopers spending $100m plus on games.
And I am sitting here like come on bruh...
Gamers you are the reason these companies make the decision.
It is time you start taking the blame.
Yall never want to look inward.
When you realize $100M+ budget games were pushed to “beat Nintendo” & they failed, you start to understand why so many content creators act like they never ask for them.
Now they’ve pivoted to praising lower budget indies
Remember that indie they propped up as better BOTW?🫠
The current content creator/PC gamer can no longer live making exclusive content outside the Nintendo ecosystem.
After the Wii U, many genuinely believed the future would be PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
They were very, very wrong.
