A PRAYER FOR RACING THOUGHTS AND ANXIOUS MINDS
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for always being there for me. For being faithful in every season of my life, even when I’ve been scattered and overwhelmed. Thank You for loving me so deeply, for Your kindness that never runs out, and for being my safe place when my thoughts feel like too much to handle. Your mercy is new every morning (Lamentations 3:22–23), and Your promises are rock-solid, no matter how shaky I feel. Thank you for
Lord, You know me better than I know myself. You know how my thoughts can run wild, pulling me in every direction, like a river rushing out of control. And yet, You never turn away. You see my mess and invite me to come closer. That amazes me. So, here I am again, laying it all at Your feet, every racing thought, every worry, every question I can’t seem to silence.
Jesus, You are the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), so invite you to bring Your peace into my mind and heart. My thoughts feel like a storm sometimes, loud and overwhelming, and I’m reminded of how You calmed the stormy seas with just a few words: “Peace, be still” (Mark 4:39). I need that same peace right now. Speak into my overthinking, Lord. Quiet the chaos and remind me that You are in control.
I confess that I get caught up in trying to figure everything out on my own. I replay conversations, imagine worst-case scenarios, and try to solve problems that aren’t even mine to solve. But Proverbs 3:5 says to trust in You with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding. So here I am, Lord. I’m letting go of the need to have all the answers. I don’t need to understand everything, because I know that You do.
Holy Spirit, I need Your help to renew my mind (Romans 12:2). Redirect my thoughts when they start to spiral, and guide me to think on things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8). When worries creep in, remind me that You’ve got this and that You’ve got me. Help me take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).
Lord, I want to rest in Your love. Not just intellectually, but deep down in my soul. Your Word says that nothing can separate me from Your love, not my fears, not my doubts, not my overthinking (Romans 8:38–39). That truth is what I want to hold onto when my mind starts racing. Remind me that You are my shepherd, leading me beside still waters and restoring my soul (Psalm 23:2–3).
And Father, thank You for being so gentle with me. You don’t rush me or shame me for struggling. Instead, You call me to cast all my anxieties on You, because You care for me (1 Peter 5:7). So here they are, all my anxieties, all my swirling thoughts, all my attempts to control things I can’t control. I’m handing them to You because I can’t carry them anymore.
Thank You for Your promise to give peace not as the world gives, but the kind of peace that calms my heart and mind in Christ Jesus (John 14:27; Philippians 4:7). Thank You for being faithful, even when I’m frazzled. Thank You for loving me as I am, but also for loving me enough to lead me into something better: stillness, trust, and rest in You.
Today, I choose to believe that You are bigger than my thoughts, stronger than my fears, and always in control. I choose to rest in Your promises, to trust in Your love, and to let You guide me through every worry and question. Help me to breathe deeply in Your grace and live in the peace that only You can give.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen 🙏
My sister went missing 10 years ago. No leads. No answers. We all thought she was dead. But last night, I got a text from her. It just said:
'Help me.' 🧵
PS: one of the quickest ways to get anything to stay in your mind is by putting a sound to it. E.g, look at you still remembering avogadro’s law or 20 elements you learnt years ago. But can you remember Boyle’s/Charle’s Law? (there may be exceptions, but you get the point)
Finally, as believers, we are lights. When you shine and stay consecrated, you draw people to righteousness. When you don’t, you first become vulnerable to the darkness and then you “unconsciously” draw people into it.
Shalom.
Give it time, what you listen to will soon be evident in the thoughts you think, the words you speak, and the way you view life.
If you don’t see anything wrong in certain ungodly acts, check what you have been feeding your mind on.
