Day whatever of vibe coding: Published the website a while ago, but I've been really busy with my PhD in the past few days, so I haven't been able to update here.

I eventually created a database that allowed me to manually edit each entry to make the necessary corrections to my portfolio.

In the end, I had to create an admin feature that let me edit manually. This is better for the website, since I can now easily add entries later.

Did some database restructuring of the writing samples, and I might still do more later. Resolved some security issues before publishing the website

Now, my portfolio is live (link is in the comments). This was a fun experience, and I'll def be vibecoding apps. ofc, I'll write an article on how to create a portfolio website with @Lovable soon.

Today, I have some time on my hands, and I was thinking of creating a research tool to help with PhD research.

Something to make finding and reviewing relevant papers easier.

Not sure I should make this my first try with Claude Code or stick to Lovable. I'll document the whole process too.

Day 2 of Vibe Coding: Manual copy-paste hell to build a 110-entry categorized writing database, but now I have a filterable portfolio.

Worked with @Lovable today, and I actually managed to get something up. Set up Lovable Pro last night, so I was able to do a lot today.

Writing the prompt, refining what I wanted the site to look like, and generating the layout were the easy parts. probably took 30 mins or so.

The problem was with the data transfer of my writing samples to the website.

I imported my resume and portfolio directly, but that wasn’t enough because I have a lot of writing samples. I spent most of the time trying to:

→ import my writing samples

→ build an extensive database for them

→ label and categorize each one

Now, I have grouped them based on article type, topic, and platform where they were published

The goal is to make the portfolio filterable by these categories, which makes it easier to navigate my writing samples.

I wanted to do this directly from my Notion and Google portfolio before. But it wasn’t able to read all the pages and links correctly.

In the end, I had to do it manually:

copy links → paste → double-check → repeat.

I’m still not done yet. I’m currently checking that each link actually works and doesn’t lead to a broken or incorrect page. Doing this manually atm, but thinking of ways to automate the process, since it might take a while.

For now, I do have a ready-to-publish portfolio website. So far, I have around 110 entries up, and that is good enough tbh.

Tomorrow, I’ll probably publish the website and write a guide on how I built it with Lovable.

Maybe then test Gemini Pro with VS Code and try Claude Code to see what vibe coding looks like across these setups

I have one of my daddy’s shirt I took after his death. I carry it with me to most places and I wear it sometimes when I’m having a bad day. I miss him.

Sometimes, I have difficulty remembering some of his stories and I have to think hard to remember all the details. Some of days I badly want to call him and ask him for clarification. And then I feel bad because how could forget details.

I don’t think I’ll ever forget his smile and the sound of his laugh and voice.

My dad’s birthday is in a couple of weeks and it’s the 5th one without him. I’ll take some of his favorite meals that day and remember all the good memories of my father telling us stories in the night ❤️

I used to count things on my body that had once touched the same air as my father.

I would randomly remember him and start counting...
"Daddy met my hairband, this gown, he met this ribbon, he bought us this cassette, this book..."
"Daddy met this plate, this curtain..."

As the years went by, I would barely find 1 or 2 things, that was here while he was still with us.

The skirt I had on when he passed, I hoarded for years till I gave it out.
It got to a point where I could no longer find a personal item, I had outgrown all of them and the rest had worn out.

When it was over 7 years, the only thing that had touched the same air as my dad, that I had left, was my shoulder length hair.

We still had household items: clothes we wore as babies, plates, even my Dad's special plate and cup, curtains, my Dad's car, my mum's too.

Our house got burnt to the ground a year ago and I no longer have things to count.

His car was packed in our compound for over a year, and even when my mum got a new car, she would refuse to sell her old rickety Golf that "her dear" got for her.

I've forgotten Daddy's smell, his voice too, and somehow his face, I keep looking at pictures tho.

Daddy would dance in front of the TV, and because he was a huge man and covered most of it, we would all be giggling and begging him to stop (he was a bad dancer, I got it from him).

I wish he stayed longer.
He was as busy as he was available, he was such a dancer, a bad one, but a dancer.
I hope he's still dancing wherever he is, I hope he has little children to dance with and for.
Daddy's smell is now very faint in my memory.

I can still remember his hands tho, his dentition, His feet, faintly.
I have his feet too.

The only thing of his I have left is his name.

It's been 13 years without Daddy, I wonder if he has children there to help him scratch and pick his back.
I wonder how he has been drinking water without his stainless cup, is there suya there? He must really miss it.

Was he scared in his final moments? Not even of death, but of dying in front of me and breaking my heart?

I often wonder if he knew he wasn't going to make it through the night and if he was sacred or heartbroken by the knowledge of that.

When I told him that night that things were going to be better, I hope he saw the strength in my voice.

Adolphus would have been such a playful grandpa, we'll all miss him, our children too.

I hope you know that most of those books are out of print. I’m doing an old African Literature arc and I went to the book house at CMS to get more books.

Tell me why the Book House don’t have African Literature, no Achebe, or Ola Rotimi, or Chukwuemeka Ike. I couldn’t get any Old African Literature!!! They kept asking me to check motivational books!

So, yeah, sometimes you have to depend on access like this to read this kind of books. Because even with your money, you can’t find them

I’ve had to take a step back because it’s not been easy turning off my brain from geophysics research to write non-academic content.

Doing all that academic research confirmed one thing, though: I’m going deeper into core research/Security research on Ethereum this year.

So I have been taking on more technical courses and reading technical books. I’m currently on the Ethereum Protocol Fellowship Studies, and it’s been an amazing learning experience so far.

I hope to keep showing up here with more content (especially more technical content).
