Research can't tell teachers what to do—classrooms are too complex for that ever to be likely. But research can identify "best bets" for improving practice, and the Great Teaching Toolkit Evidence Review is pretty much the state of the art in this regard: https://t.co/FJXMJ8NuxL
@pwharris 76 x 18 = ?
Let's use some benchmark numbers to start...
75 x 20 = 1500
Take two groups of 75
1500 - 150 = 1350
Therefore 18 x 75 = 1350
18 x 76 = 18 x 75 + 18
Which is 1350 + 18 = 1368
76 x 18 = 1368

Love this quote by @robertqberry... 'I'm not a maths person' is such an overused comment in our society... Let's stop defining ourselves, and our children, by our/their perceived 'maths ability'.
2nd highest growth of all schools in Western Sydney! A fantastic achievement Hawkesbury Independent School! A great reflection on the students, staff and the wider community and its interest in constantly improving. Congrats! #coachedu#iteachmath https://t.co/FRQMcyDQPv
@jamestanton@JenniferWathall@Mathgarden@DynamicsSIAM@GlobalMathProj@suevanhattum A really refreshing and pragmatic look at mathematics education. There are lots of effective ways to support student growth and their mathematical / conceptual understanding. I agree that option c) shows a deeper level of understanding. Math ain't a race. Thanks for sharing!
Wow! So much noticing and wondering going on in my head with this. Top notice: You can really see the musical tastes change over the decades. Top wonder: When did I become so out of touch with popular music?
I know, it's not new... but Dan Finkel on mathematical teaching is a great reminder for a Thursday morning. Also, all you teachers looking for a problem solving stimulus for prime factors, take note. https://t.co/KSAH1tWtG8 #coachEDU#iteachmath
Opportunities for teachers to analyze students’ learning production behaviors, discuss their observations with colleagues, and reflect on learning and teaching behaviors in their classrooms is great professional learning Teachers’ Peer Observations: https://t.co/6z3DkTvxb2
