Skinner wasn’t even a psychotherapist - he was a research psychologist.

Something that is actually important in psychotherapy is genuine empathy. I do think that one day we may well have an AI that can actually empathise, but at the moment the GPT models do not have this ability

@Hitchslap1 Empathy is clearly dissociable from IQ as per psychopathy.

Theory of mind is clearly dissociable from IQ as per Autism.

Both could be considered aspects of “Emotional Intelligence” and so the concept is not total bullshit

“Emotional Intelligence” isn’t particularly well defined and can’t be measured like IQ.

That said, there are aspects of social cognition and executive function that are dissociable from IQ and can be measured by neuropsychologists using verified tests like the Reading the Mind in the Eyes test and the Iowa Gambling Task. These could be considered to be aspects of “Emotional Intelligence” and so I do not think that the entire concept is bullshit, only that it is not well defined.
