@AdrianoAguzzi May be tricky to procure whilst still in hospital but can strongly recommend trying red light (or NIR) on those bruises. It may help to speed healing and provide other general benefits. Wishing all the best!

Well spent the week working out the numbers at ‘record level data level’ from our last wave November - March.

So. Here you go:

73 patients with low ferritin out of a town of 423 people.

14% were male
86% were female

The average age was 52

The average ferritin was 39

21 patients had an iron infusion due to failure to response to oral iron or being so depleted (ferritin <20)

&

53 patients are on oral replacement to assess absorption and response.

6 patients removed who were actually from another of our clinics and not this location specifically.

Red flag questions/investigations have been covered (PR Bleeding, unusual PVB, Chest/Abdominal symptoms etc)

This surely cannot be the new normal?

Yes I know there are other pathways (oncogenic, cardiovascular, mitochondrial etc) but ferritin taking a battering over and over each wave?

Getting less and less.

Iron clearly is slower to recover after each infection increasing risk of it never recovering due to the inflammatory response.

Maybe it’s a step and not the whole answer. Maybe.

But WhAT ABoUT ThE VaCCINe?

91% never received a single booster.

‘Boosted’ (vaccine in last 12 months) average ferritin 42

Unvaccinated/No Booster average ferritin 36

Average age of boosted patients 75

Average age of unvaccinated/No Booster 49

So wait a minute how can the elderly have better resilience than young people? If indeed vaccine don’t work.

Or maybe. Just maybe.
