Landscape of Endoaesthetics I

This painting was part of STILL WET, a group exhibition at @GalerieMet Berlin, curated by @kikanicolela and Ruizhe Liang.

Here you can see both the physical painting and the digital image it comes from.

For me, painting these images that emerge from a digital process is like going out to paint a reality we cannot see with our own eyes, but can access through digital tools.

This work explores the interaction between generative AI and traditional painting, emphasizing aesthetics as a process rather than a fixed image. A collection of landscapes from textual prompts forms the source dataset. Through custom Python scripts, pixels and visual fragments are segmented, extracted, and recombined from multiple images, producing a new landscape through computational recontextualization. The resulting composition is then manually reinterpreted in oil on canvas, where the aesthetic experience resides not only in the final painting but in the successive transformations of visual information from text to synthetic image, from data to algorithmic reconstruction, and from digital computation to material gesture.
