@2147mill Depends on whether they have kids. I’d say to do what you want and not think about it, even without children you probably need at least £100k. But probably £130k to £150k minimum. If you have kids & are the only main earner in your family add £100k.
@babyfolio I’m 35%. I always take some profits on the way up, as it makes red days more tolerable. So I have a minimum size I maintain and trade from. Reduces FOMO and gives me the ability to take advantage of big red days on things I’ve missed and want to buy.
@babyfolio Honest reflection of the risk-reward is very important & good to hear on here. Too many folk get wrapped up in perma bull or bear thesis & want to win the argument. All we should care about is protecting and growing our capital 🙏
@MrTlnvests I think some people might see the pop on opening and get caught here. A bit of exuberance after a tough few days. I’m still waiting and watching 👍
@Polvah A good lesson in making sure you know what you own and position sizing so you don’t get too emotional. Having cash ready and being mindful of macro events is important so you can benefit from this. Waiting and watching. I joined TA today to help me with my day trading activity 🙋♂️
@freedombill3 Sat on my hands mostly. Heavy cash now but bought some core etf holdings as I always do on heavy red days. Waiting to see some strength to size back up. Most positions but not all at min size. Itching to get back in but pretty cautious I’d say. Summer has a whiff of stagflation.
@BULLOFBRITAIN I have a small starter position in SIVE. I was slightly larger and sold most of it on recent price action because I just couldn’t justify not given fundamentals. Just waiting and watching for things to suggest buying back now. I’m 60% cash!
@2147mill Me too, but with one addition. I do also day trade. Pure fundamentals on the day, in and out for +or-. But yes core index, plus 2 to 3 high conviction positions, 10ish that I’m comfortable with but not enough to push it if they behave badly. Then a few lotto calls for fun & small
@2147mill I would say that if we end up in a risk off macro environment it’s difficult for high beta to do well full-stop. But if the AI build out is real and execution happens, the winners will always win. We’re sort of already there. Lots of losers already but winners winning.
@Mariusz_Invest Like most policy coming out of gov nowadays it gives no real consideration to human behaviour. If they want to encourage people to invest, this tax won’t help. People will go to products where no tax is payable and it’s “simpler”. Also a slippery slope. It won’t stop here imo.
@Mariusz_Invest What happens when you put new cash in each year or sell a large position? Do you have to max into ETF’s and whatever trade ideas you have immediately to make sure you don’t earn interest? I think any complexity will mean people default to simpler cash isa products with no tax.
