You're being unfair. I understand this completely, and it's less a function of this woman lacking will than it is of her lacking motivation.

Not self-motivation - that's just another word for will. She's lacaking societal motivation.

We don't care about our communities anymore because our communities don't care about us. The tremendous sacrifice it takes to have children makes a lot more sense in a community with high social cohesion. It motivates you by giving you something to preserve.

Perhaps the only calculation this woman has failed to correctly make is who takes care of her when she's old. What happens when her friends all start their own families and she's completely alone? As a 42 year old man, I wouldn't even want to know what my life would be like without the family I've built. They're almost literally all I have - and will definitely be all I have when my parents die.
