From Engineer to Fractional CFO: A Leap into the Unknown
The most dangerous road is the one you're told to take. It's clear, it's paved, and everyone you respect has walked it before you.
@acecap_@BoilerPlateCPA My guess is just using data that you have around projects/work.
If projects generally take 30 days to finish, 45 days to collect, you can use that to gauge an estimate for collections.
There are 1000 wrinkles that could be added but in my experience that's the rough idea here

@vrexec Thank you for the thoughtful replies.
Any thoughts on where to start? I know there’s no easy answer nor can you solve it all in one tweet.
I just find sales and marketing advice in the accounting industry a bit lacking and trying to figure out what to do next
@vrexec I’ve always walked into situations where clients already exist. I’ve never had to go get new business cold. Leads come to the firm which I can sell, but leads don’t come to me first if that makes sense.
I’m just an operator at heart that needs to learn how to sell

And over the last year, 90% of businesses we've analyzed have had a DOWN TTM period compared to prior years marketed in the CIM.
For the buyers who didn't get a QofE, this is creating a phenomenon that I call a "distressed deal in disguise".
First time buyers are taking over thousands of businesses across the country, only to find out that they're walking into a trap that leaves them feeling blind, cash strapped, and over-operated.
If you bought a business and are struggling with cash flow + what to do next, I'd urge you to download this special report our team wrote.
You are in the hardest stage of the buy + build lifecycle, but I guarantee you there's a way forward. I've dealt with this w/ my clients + I've actually gone through liquidity struggles personally in my own business.
If you're going through this, you know that the stress can eat you alive.
Your working long hours but even when you're home, your mind is consumed with stress, and your spouse can tell. You've started forgetting important events, and you're getting questioned by people around you on "whether you care about anything other than work".

@joshuamschultz If you ever distribute, I’d jump in day 1. I’ll be your first customer!
I think personalized learning like this could be the future for everyone. If I had this back in my engineering school days I think I’d have learned way more in less time fwiw
Do you have this project published on GitHub or anything? I’d even pay to have access to something like this to learn new topics on demand and async.
Like if I want to learn taxes for a month, futures trading another month, coding after that. I could just upload resources and get a personalized tutor for learning.
If I could go on a walk and just talk to it for learning I think it’d be hugely valuable
