@gio1ace Yh and I think that's the tension most people are viewing this through the lens of identity and belonging and his french roots are comparatively weak compared to the other nations he could have represented, or that's the perception to most English fans I've heard speak on it.
@gio1ace The sentiment most people I speak to have is that they'd have liked him to play for England but they would understand him choosing Nigeria or Algeria. Him choosing France strikes most people as a bit of a glory hunter move and begs the question does he see himself as one of us.
@owenjonesjourno This is really simple, are immigrants disproportionately showing up in these crimes, if yes let's explore immigration policy, if not let's get on with it.
@JamaHiba89890@OpiumWipes If you have two fully African parents you can't magically become English you need at least one English parent. This is like primary school stuff.
@Vincredible__ I've seen one extreme far right account in England say it and like 30 plus instances of Africans born here saying it about themselves ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
@flamencotears@YrkshireFinest She's an Algerian born in France lol, his entire connection is that his mum happened to be born on that piece of land ๐
