I am deeply grateful to the teachers who made me who I am today, the professors who recognized my passion for education and encouraged me to seriously consider teaching, and the friends and family who made me feel safe enough to take this leap of faith.
Life Update:
I recently graduated with my Master's in Education & Social Policy from Northwestern University.
The experience so deeply affirmed my love of learning and teaching that I have decided to pursue my teaching license, and become a high school teacher.
I am excited to announce that I was accepted into Northwestern's School of Education and Social Policy for a Master's in Education! I will be starting classes this fall. 🟣⚪️
@trans_gaines Yup. The guy who refers to his penis as a "frankenweenie." Trans people are free to discuss our bodies in any way we see fit, but to utilize it in this article that focuses on how phallos are "imperfect" is harmful. No one writes about the "imperfections" of cis genitals this way
The craziest thing about this article to me is the fact that Gates' opponent for President of the Chicago TEACHERS' Union (@CTULocal1) is...not a teacher.
🧵This article, though!
Look at Laura and Hazel’s granddaughter—look and you will see *their* dimensions, heart, dreams, beauty, resilience, power, strength, imagination, courage, faith, and brilliance.
Whew. Still emotional. ⬇️

@Golbiez_Gaming@CTULocal1 I'm honored that you're so worked up over some nobody's tweet that your first 3 tweets in 6 years are all directed at me. I didn't delete because 1) I think discourse is important and I learned a lot from these interactions and 2) deleting would be evading accountability
@madsomalley@jacksonpCTU@CTULocal1 I said this in another thread, but it was definitely not my intention to minimize the importance of clinicians and other staff in CPS. I appreciate your point/perspective and will definitely take it into consideration.
@eefeurer@jacksonpCTU@CTULocal1 This is a very fair point, and it was definitely not my intention to minimize the importance of clinicians and other staff in CPS. I do think there is potentially a conversation to be had about the difference in experiences, however.

🧵1/6 Today I spent hours talking to CPS principals, teachers & parents about these budget cuts our school communities will be facing and I’m enraged. These cuts are going to be devastating for SPED services, for the arts, for tech support, for recess monitoring & more.
